Stewart wants us to hang on to Williams

Where do you guys get this injury prone d-will stuff. He missed 3 games the season before last in a run happy offense. Last season he was put on ir for a sprained foot in a lame duck season. He couldve came back but why would he play through it in a 2-14 season with a coach that didn't give a damn. I bet yall believed Jake was really incapable when he was supposedly injured and Matt took over.

Take of the glasses.

He is 28 years old. Please go look back at Shaun Alexander, LT, and Larry Johnson.

Is DWill a great back, yup. Does he deserve the extension that those guys got at roughly the same age? Nope.

Sorry, I like DWill as much as the next guy, but damn, this team needs to build for the future, not sign aging work horse backs.

Yes, please don't play like Hurney and Fox did with Jake, thanks.

Dwill>delhomme. He's 28 its not like he 30+ and he's been splitting carries. If he wants 10 mil a year then yea let him go get paid but if he wants 5-6 mil keep him. We will still have money left. Who can we sign instead of him for that price that we make a bigger impact?

He is going to go to the team that pays him the most $$$. Stop buying into the I want to stay a Panther BS. Fans are loyal, rarely are players. Especially with the last contract they are going to get.

He will want a 5 year deal, so he would be signed through his 32/33 birthday. That's stupid, and exactly why I am so nervous about having Hurney at the helm.

They spent a lot on gamble and gross I think they'll be willing to give williams some dough.

those guys were carrying over 300 times a season. Our guys take half the punishment those guys do. He's not.the average back yall act like he is. Think about it Dwill can play at a high level at least 3more seasons then ease Stewart in to take the majority.

A top o lineman would make a bigger impact Imo. As long as the O-line is playing well stewart would be a very effective back. Good enough to do anything we wanted on offense.

they gave them lots of dough....but they weren't at comparable points in their careers compared to Williams.

So we have no problem paying the one year of production guy a shitload but let's get rid of the 28 year old consistent running back so our offense can take a step back. I really doubt he's going to demand a huge contract and if he doesn't we'll still be able to sign players at other positions for "the future"

We need to keep our running game intact, will make Cam's transition MUCH easier.

running game will be there to aid Cam w/ or w/o Williams.

Majority of NFL teams don't have a backfield to compete w/ the likes of Stewart/Goodson/Sutton. In a passing league, there are more important areas to improve on.

one is entering his prime....the other is on the backside of his. Big difference when talking about throwing around big dollars.

I agree that being sentimental towards players have hurt the Panthers in the past, Delhomme, Peppers, Morgan, Foster... But they can't let DWill go, not yet.

actually it seems just like those examples.....if you look at his age, mileage, recent health, and what happens to most RBs as they approach 30, and the outstanding shape the RB depth chart is in without him.....if they dump a lot of money to keep him he will be a name to add to that list most likely.

if he is affordable keep him, Panthers would be foolish to out bid teams for him. Then again, when it comes to keeping guys vs. letting them walk Carolina has been pretty foolish with their own.

    • Bryce put it in a spot only his guy could get it only for David Moore to drop it. T_T Tremble and Horn both struggled yesterday and that killed me since they're two of my favourite players. Tommy knows he has to come down with this one. Folks were understandably saying that JT would've caught that had he not gotten hurt a few plays earlier. The more I look at this play, the more I think that Bryce made the right decision throwing it out the back of the endzone. He could have tried to laser it in to Thielen, but that safety is lurking awfully close inside. Insuring the field goal here after a 44sec drive to end the half was the right move.
    • Except Bryce was the main reason we were in it
    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
