Stewart wants us to hang on to Williams

I just have a feeling that Hurney cares about keeping the drafted players over everything else. I think they'll pay Williams pretty well.

Hurney and Fox both overvalued the running back position, it's time to make some changes to a philosophy that doesn't really work any longer.

Look at Ryan Torrain, LeGarrett Blount, Arian Foster, Danny Woodhead. You don't need to have two highly paid RB's on your roster to be successful. In fact, I would and can argue that it is a detriment to your team if you are spending that much money on a position that can be filled so cheaply.

Ryan Torain? A guy who has played in 12 games in 3 years and hasn't even run for 1000 yards for his career is an example of what we should strive for at the RB position?

As for the other 3, Cam's potential is there, but are we really expecting our passing game to be as heavily dependent on our QB like Freeman, Schaub, and Brady from the get go?

as Freeman? definately....maybe not year 1 but Cam needs to be able handle that type load.

Torain is an example of how scrubs can be plugged in and are done so all the time at RB in the NFL.

Are you forgetting Stewart?

That's what you guys don't understand, we have another top flight back sitting behind DWill.

What I am saying is we put too much emphasis on the RB position, and it has been biting us in the ass.

It's time to get into the 2000's.

I can definately see that POV but where it diverges for me is the fact that we have Cam Newton now. We need a very strong run game to be competitive. By the time Newton will have hopefully developed into a franchise QB Williams contract will have expired and it will be Stewarts turn to be scrutinized for being close to 30.

and we will have a good run game suitable for a rookie QB w/o Williams. Can use that money to buy someone else to have a bigger impact on making Cam's job easier.

None of the backs previously mentioned are on the level of double trouble. We've got two top 10(top 5 if you've got homer glasses on) and up and comer who's probably the best 3rd string RB in the league.

exactly.....now is definately not the time to do so for an aging Williams. Also today's NFL....having an offense where you have 2 1000 yard rushers is not the way to win football games. The teams winning now that the rules have changed are ones who aren't pounding the rock.

Yes, having 2 1000 yard rushers or watching Chris Johnson put up a 2000 yard season is nice to talk about.....but if that is what you are doing on offense you are fighting an uphill battle.

I think that starting a below average Jake Delhomme 8 games after he should have been benched and not pursuing decent WR's in FA hurt us much more than the over kill of talent the RB position.

It's like dudes here forgot all the scrub RBs that we had prior to 2008 so it's just a given that you can plug "anyone" into that role. Eric Shelton, Lamar Smith, Richard Huntley, Biakabutuka, post 2003-Deshaun Foster, etc. are proof that's not the case.

I would agree but I don't really like calling Biakabutuka and Deshaun scrubs. I just consider them great talents that fell to a lot of misfortune.

Nick Goings and Brad Hoover could pull off 100 yard games....

Problem is Carolina has been building a running offense.....in a passing league. Drafting for one as well. At times your offense is gonna blow up in your face when that is how you build your team.

If you gotta be good at one thing....it is better to be a passing team currently.

      Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.

      I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.

      Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
