Sales Jobs

huh? how about selling the product using your knowledge based on the product and how it performs in your certain industry?

facts usually work a little better than "forcing your will upon others"

it never hurts to have a good personality and be approachable. that's why most people in sales are outgoing.

a lot of people in sales are outgoing......and a lot are also bullshitters who aren't always the most honest people around. Sucks competing against those type people.....when the customers don't know the difference.

Thats my problem. I'm an honest person with a conscience.

Find the right commission structure, believe in the product, and be naturally outgoing (Something I had to teach myself. I was never a real "people person".) Also, no matter what you think of Trump, read his book, "Art of the Deal"! [ AND be prepared to work long hours, including weekends!

yep yep..he worked July 4th weekend b/c had a huge job starting and he had to be there to make sure the installers didn't f*ck it up

His phone is always on..even on vacation...but he gets paid well and he likes what he does

Sales is a tough tough life. It not only depends on yourself but also the company and the products/services they offer.

I've done well but also been burned pretty badly... I've gone from six figures to unemployment the next month. If you want security stay the hell away.

Depends on what type of sales you get into...I've have 4 good friends that are in sales and 3 of them do very well.

First one sells medical devices...for vaginas to be exact. Pros: Easily makes $300K per year but he has to look at vaginas that need a medical device to fix what is wrong with them. Not a pretty site in most cases.

Second one works for a food service company. Like Blys said...once he got his clients, he is an order taker. I do his taxes and he brings in about $120K a year and works about 25 hours a week. Eats for free at the restaurants he supplies and golfs for free at the golf courses he supplies. Not to mention numerous trips his company gives him a each year.

Third one sells pipe for construction. Was making $500K+ and lived the lifestyle. Construction busted and he was struggling to support the lifestyle when his salary dropped to about $125K per year...things are picking up though.

The fourth one is Panthro and he is just not very good at .....well anything.

That's one thing I miss about real estate. You might have to work nights a weekends, but at least once a week there was a catered luncheon. I had my own pass to "The Point" on Lake Norman, because I sold a very nice home. I was always getting present from builders. Of course that was before the real estate crash. It's tightened up ALOT since then. When it was good, it was good!

Beer and or Liquor sales will aways be good! In tough time, sales go up!

A former co-worker of mine, Husband works for Beeler Dist. (IE: Budweiser) here in Charlotte. (If maybe in Ft Mill.) He was pulling in good money! And you get a lot of perks too!

There are great opportunities in sales. But many drawbacks.

I work all kinds of strange hours, and have to deal with the public all the time.

I can't make 6 figures doing anything else, so I do sales.

Honestly the only great thing about this biz is the $$$$.
