Is Charles Johnson overrated?

Recommended Posts

reading comprehension much?

Semantics... One could say they are calling him the best along with a few others. Or one could say its too close to call so he could be the best in some peoples eyes and not others.

Johnson was very productive on a team that had a very weak d line. He was often double-teamed and he still got to the quarterback. With a better D line where he can't be doubled all the time he would be almost unstoppable. He is the strongest defensive guy on the team maybe on the whole team. He is not overrated because not everyone is talking about him at this point. In fact I think he is underrated. If we keep him he will be even more of a beast in McDermott's scheme. I think he will get 15 sacks this year.

Bro - Peppers never even had 15 sacks for this team - and CJ ain't Peppers. He's definitely good, but he's not THAT good....

Yo bro, no one would get 15 sacks in a Fox defense but in a McDermott defense it is a real possibility. Look at how many Johnson got last year. CJ might be no Peppers but he has a better than Peppers does and doesn't disappear as often.

Charles Johnson IS overrated by most Panther fans. Any one who tries to say charles johnson is better than peppers, is flat out lyin to themselves and everybody else.

You ask any offensive and head coach in the league, who do you game plan more for, peppers, or johnson,..and the truth is right there.

That being said...

Johnson has finially become the player Fox and Hurney envisioned him being, when he was drafted.

He is the best defensive line on the roster.

As far as how much money he is worth, he is worth top end money, regardless of him just breaking out last season.

That is how you must look at it. Agree with it or not, he's going to get paid.

It's also the easy argument that he is worth more to the Panthers, than any other team. We simply do not have a replacement for him on the roster, nor is there one available in FA that isn't a big drop off.

He had a really good season last year. Cant really predict anything off one year but he is young and has potential. If he plays like he did last year he will be really good. On a quick note last year was a contract year so that was a little bit of motivation.

Yeah..I'm sure the pressure of not having anyone else here (peppers) to bring it, had nothing to do with motivating him.

Sometimes timing is just circumstancial.
