My kitchen table looks like poo

Remind me to never buy furniture from a scratch & dent place again. I bought a kitchen table several years ago since then the varnish has chipped off the top surface of it over time. I've tried sanding it and varnishing it but realized what I thought was solid wood was a very thin piece of wood glued down over compressed wood. I keep a tablecloth over it cause it looks like poo. Someone at Lowes gave me the idea to try to fix it by putting those peel & stick tiles on it. So for about $15, I fixed it this way. It still looks like poo but at least it looks better until we can get a new table.

Our kitchen table is one my mom bought us as a wedding gift in 1994. It is all scratched up and banged up... I love it.

Speaking of poo... the dog pooped on the rug last night and I stepped in it on my way to eat breakfast today... what a great way to start your day that was.
