If we end up keeping Peppers one more year...

The more I go over the game tape in my head  I think Peps biggest problem is he lacks technique. All the guys we mention as being elite D-linemen had at least one strong weapon, either a strong club, rip, swim, or spin. LT had it all...

Pep seems to engage and try to push his way to the ball, this often stands him up and he appears to quit, also leads to him getting held a lot. Eh what do I know, anyone ever remember seeing Pep make an awesome move and leave a tackle grasping for air?

Posts like this is one of the reasons I am glad you are back. I think Mr Scot has also opined something of this nature. It makes sense to me.

These are the kind of statements that I can agree with. Yeah, Pep had some bad days and may have not given all he had on occasion. I'm saying, if that is true, there is locker room justice.

The statements of some posters on here though, basically saying that he is not worth spit are exagerated IMHO.

You're right, I would expect players to lose respect for a guy who isn't giving it his all. That's why I tend to agree more with User Name.

Agreed...too much extremism isn't usually reality.

I think it says a lot, that there have been no offers for him (that we know about) These teams must have seen something, and know he is not worth a 90m+ contract and the picks they would have to give up. They know his 14.5 sacks was a show in a contract year, especially coming off a 2.5 sack year. He and his agent overestimated his worth, and now he will be stuck in Carolina (maybe, alot can still happen that's why I'm not freaking out) I just hope if he does stay he plays and has a career year, and doesn't fake an injury to sit out the season to get back at the team for putting the FT on him.

If he stays we will overpay him. Usename hit it on the head he just rushes and if he gets locked up he is done.

the point is some people are bitter,if your Julius and you have been with a team for 7 years but they have not won a bowl yet.you tend to wanna drift to a team that you think can get you there,no offense.imagine if smith said the same thing, they would people coming out of nowhere with these dumbass posters and comments about everything smith did wrong.the first assault incident, the lucas incident and some other bull about his temper.

all i'm saying if you wanna trade him fine, but pleases show a guy who's dedicated 7 years to this organization a little respect and dignity.

I agree with this. He doesn't quit, he just lacks technique. If he can get 14.5 sacks just bone rushing, he should get like 20 using an effective technique. People saying he takes games and plays off don't know what they're talking about. Oh, and AK is a douche.

I am watching the NYG game on replay right now and paying attn mostly to Pep on D. In this game, the NYG are running very few plays to Pep's side so far (mid 4th Q right now). But as User Name said, he really isn't doing anything but bullrushing. He just got a sack and it was because he got a major jump outside on their LT. Brayton's sack looked to be a better use of pure technique.

So, what does this say about Peppers? More over what does it say about the Panthers? They want to keep a player who hasn't learned or refuses to learn how to get better at what he does, ya know to earn that 100m contract.

It says Peppers has always been able to get by on his freakish athleticism. Funny thing is he's supposed to be very coachable, so I dunno why he appears to be lacking in technique, Julius is an enigma plain and simple.

They want to keep him because though I may not think he's worth the money, they can't easily replace him. Sometimes you have to over pay out of necessity not choice.

The problem is this has been one of the most exciting off seasons I can remember with there being so talent available. It is frustrating because the Panthers are not involved in any way, except we are losing people ! Bottom line is Pepper's does not want be here and his cap had crippled us. Holding on to him means nothing for the future, we need the players now. Since Jake the fake is staying we really need more weapons !

OK, I'm ready...

What you guys don't do is post visual evidence that he actually takes plays off. You whine and bitch about it, but never produce proof of it. I've stayed out of it for the most part, but a direct request for evidence was met with an "yes I got it" without supporting the request. I wanna know? Sure, he's been beat, every DE in the league has been. But we're talking intentionally taking plays/games off and I want to see evidence of that, not illusions and rehashed bullsh*t of that...

Go back and watch replays of the entire 2007 season.

Why does this matter? :banghead:

He wants to go, there for we need him to go.

We dont need to debate how he has played, because wether its this year or next he will no longer be a Panther!

How about having the highest number of sacks in his career? Thats not improving? Yeah he can use better technique, but that doesn't mean he's bad or anything. He's still great using the techinque he's been using so I'm not going to complain that he hasnt reached elite Reggie White status yet. Its like complaining that you got an A in a subject in school 'cause you want a A+.
