The first time I heard dirty heads was in a surf shop at Huntington beach. Every time I listen to them I remember that trip and the sunset over the pacific.

That is literally the one thing Cali has over the Carolina beaches, you cant replicate that sunset.

i've been to both coasts too. the sunrise and the sunset on the ocean is equally beautiful IMO. i get up early enough to see it happen when i do morning surf sessions.
