And while Cole was in town, a spot in the starting lineup opened up when Rocky Bernard agreed to sign with the New York Giants, according to a report from the Newark Star-Ledger on Saturday. There was no report on the terms of the deal.

Bernard played the past seven seasons in Seattle, and was one of the top pass rushers in 2005 when he had 8.5 sacks, the only time in his seven seasons with Seattle he finished with more than four sacks. The Seahawks re-signed him in 2006 to a three-year contract, and there were signs his Seattle tenure was nearing an end before that deal expired.

They still don't have corners or linebackers that are that good. The match up between our two teams doesn't look that bad.

Corey Webster was a shut down corner last year he led the league in PD's. Aaron Ross had a rough season but the potential is there. As for linebackers I think picking up Micheal Boley is going to be huge, he should fit VERY well into our aggressive scheme. With OSI back our defense should be top 5 easy. Also we got Rocky for 4yrs/16mill :D

led the league in PDs = QBs threw to him a lot = QBs not scared of him = probably not shut down corner.

Corey Webster, New York Giants

Season Totals: 66 attempts, 3.92 YPA, 65.15 Forced INC%, 1 TD, 3 INTs

Shut down corner...only one with better cover stats was ofcourse Aso. One td allowed all year and that was to T.O in week 9. Oh and speaking of thrown to alot, the only starting CB thrown to more than Chris Gamble was Charles Tillman. Statistically Richard Marshall had the best year for you guys believe it or not

That reads like crap from a Giants' fan blog, or at least somebody that doesn't have a clue about any other team than the Giants. WHat was your source? The Giants line makes your CBs appear better. I guarantee no coach would rate Webster the second best in the league.

The line helps but Corey still had a remarkable year...on the other side Aaron Ross had one of the worst seasons for a starting CB

    • There wasn't a moment of the day that I couldn't at least hear helicopters.
    • Spoken like someone who hasn't watched nearly enough of T-Mac other than a few short highlight clips to know his game. The only thing he doesn't have is the short area quickness in the way that you're looking for, as you seem to want that Jefferson/Chase type of WR, which sure, he's not that. But him and XL are nothing alike, let alone having the same strengths and weaknesses.  In particular, T-Mac's #1 strength is LITERALLY XL's #1 weakness, their hands.  T-Mac has vice grips for hands, catches darn near everything, and does it all with hands catches, the opposite of XL.   Beyond that, you mention prioritizing route running, of which, T-Mac already runs a complete NFL route tree at a high level.  Yes, he needs to work on his get off the line at the snap and get a little crisper on some of his cuts to create separation, but again, all players need to work on something, that's just what his is.  It doesn't change that he is already a great route runner, there are just some small elements of it that he can improve on. Even then, it's like I've been saying, the trade off of not having that true elite separation like the smaller WR's get, is how good he is at using his body to keep the DB's from being able to break up passes and just making contested catches in general.  You lose a little bit of separation, but his 6'5" body gives him advantages that the smaller WRs just don't have. Again, your post here insinuates that T-Mac is a slow, plodding big WR who isn't a proficient route runner, which couldn't be further from the truth.  I have no issue with people wanting other players over T-Mac, or just not wanting him at all.  But they need to be logical reasons, not made up ones in your head because you don't actually know the player and his abilities.
    • I'm pretty sure that was the best season he's ever gonna have.
