Did "Starship Troopers" predict the future??

This may need to be in the Tinderbox but I wanted to keep it somewhat lighthearted so I'm posting it in the lounge.

This was pretty interesting. Two separate articles written by two different people at two different times; both dissecting the parallels of "Starship Troopers" and the War on Terror. The funny thing is "Starship Troopers" was released in 1997, 4 years before the 9/11 attacks.

Anyway, two pretty interesting and funny reads.

Starship Troopers was published in 1959 not 1997.

edit: Guess I should read the articles first. Yeah funny parallels I guess. Even though I feel the article relies far more on Starship Troopers the movie being entertaining rather than anything that interesting as far as realistic portrayal of the future.

Sadly, I caught some of Starship Troopers 3 the other day... the peak of the action was literally about the main characters finding Jesus as they killed bugs and giving themselves over to prayer during the final battle.
