Are Supercars a Europen thing?

An American company couldn't make it doing it the same way.

Only Americans would buy the cars, and certainly only the ones that didn't choose to by Italian and German ones.

I just can't really see the extreme wealthy of Germany buying many American supercars.

America's culture has never really supported super cars, quality cars, or sports cars. We made quality cars in the early to mid 20th century but fell behind after Europe got over WWII. Caddilac was easily one of the best brands in the world.

Europe is full of tiny and windy roads. As well as having much more expensive fuel. All of it's motorsports involve corners rarely any oval tracks. Not much popular organized professional drag racing.

America is full of big ass interstates. Our fuel is cheap. We like NASCAR and Drag Racing. Also we are workaholics. We commute to work and construction is one of our largest industries. So we like pick up trucks and daily drivers.

That's why our supercars are mostly muscle cars. Also there are many cars today that perform very well to their European rivals. The high performance Caddilac keeps up very well with it's European counterparts, especially if you use the price bracket. The corvette is better than most sport cars in it's price range and even much further above. The the new mustang gt incredibly has actually put up numbers very similar to the current gen M3 which is insane to be anywhere close to it.

The super car companies are all owned by the large auto giants anyway.

Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini are owned by VW.

Ferrari is owned by Fiat. Fiat also owns a lot of Chrysler.

Rolls Royce is owned by BMW.

Lotus and Mclaren aren't owned by a larger auto maker but they make a lot of money with engineering contracts and racing. Ferrari makes a lot of money with racing too.

Aston Martin is also largely independent I think they are owned by the same people that control Lotus.

Pagani has their engines sourced from Mercedes. Most of these small car makers cannot afford to make their own engines.

Pretty much every truly legendary car company has gone bankrupt and been bought by a larger auto maker. They always put quality and design above profit, if they made any profit at all.

    • I'm not looking at any of those as a good choice. Willis is a pass and Jones will probably get a contract offer in Indy (and should).  Now, work out a trade for Mac Jones and I might be intrigued. The two best QB factories right now are SF and LARams. Grab someone from their benches and you get a quality guy from a prior high draft that might be reaching their potential. Everything else is a crap shoot at best.
    • Nijman wasn’t terrible. But I wouldn’t describe his play as good either. I think he’s still best suited as a swing tackle off the bench. And unfortunately Brady Christiansen cannot be relied on given h injuries as well   We should resign Nijman, but we need to bring in someone else either in free agency or the draft to give us an alternative in the event he doesn’t perform. Free agent options are pretty bad unless there are some surprise cuts, so the draft is probably our better option.  With our overall needs, would be nice to shore up the defense in Round 1, but if the value that’s there is in a LT, I think you have to seriously consider that. If Ickey returns and can still be effective, I think you can move him or the new LT over to RT since Moton will likely be retiring in the next couple years.
    • The moving goal posts for Bryce both ways is wild. But for the most part, this place is overtly negative. First, it was he didn’t show flashes at all of being a #1 pick: he’s done that for sure. Then it was he cannot throw the deep ball and we want to see him take more shots: he’s done that and gotten much better with his timing and accuracy on deep shots. Then it was he can only win with a dominant ground game getting 200+ yards: we haven’t had a ground game since October, he pretty much carried the offense and almost took down the Rams. I get it, you didn’t want him and think he’s too small and weak and nothing will change that. But holy hell give the guy a break. “31 other starters can do what he’s doing” You put a statue back there like Stroud and see how many sacks we give up in that playoff game. I’m not saying he’s a top 15 qb but there are flashes to what he can be if he continues to improve. The disrespect to saying he’s a bottom 5 qb is wild lol
