4 years, 45 million?? Can't be true.

Wasn't it rumored last year that the Panthers offer was for 6 years, 70 million give or take?

Yeah and it has also been speculated that the offer eventually got as high as 7 years, 100 million.

Some believe that it wasn't about the money and if so this would prove it. Also to point out that would be extremely good money for an OLB in a 3-4 defense. What the Panthers were offering was for a DE.

Like I said it is all hear say at this point.

at the same time, they are losing mike vrabel and getting basically nothing in return. i can't see a mischievous guy like belichick doing that without some kind of plan.

I agree..it's a bit of a head scratcher as it stands now.

They believe it will be 2 2nd rounders NE will give up or 1st and 2nd

Well now, that could be the purpose of the #34 pick they got for Cassel & Vrabel...the Cats have no 1st rounder, but pick #34 is practically a first round talent and cheaper to sign.

Patriots | Hold still... Cassel situation just got more complicated

Sat, 28 Feb 2009 10:30:21 -0800

Updating previous reports, Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports a third, undisclosed team has entered the picture surrounding QB Matt Cassel. The trade parameters are in place between the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, but it is not a definite yet that he is being shipped to Kansas City. Schefter says Cassel is being traded, to which team has yet to be determined.

What the hell is going on?

Who is the third team?

Um, I'm pretty sure that's old, from earlier today.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
