Pep to New England *rumor*

He might be right... People on NE forum going nuts over this and some we bistes already stating that it about to go down.

The return seems extremely light, especially since the Chicago Tribune reported the Pats were seeking either first- and third-round draft picks, or two second-rounders, for Cassel alone. But speculation is New England is attempting to clear cap space to make a run at a high-priced free agent or trade for a high-priced veteran.

Notice: This is just hear say and I have no link. Bash me if you must.

I have a friend that lives in Boston that I just got off the phone with. He said the rumor there is that Peppers agent approached the Patriots and agreed on a possible deal that is being reported (kind of) of 4 years 45 million. They did not offer Peppers a tender sheet but will now be approaching the Panthers to work out a trade. Highly unlikely they give up two 1st round picks and nothing is finalized. Could be nothing at all except the two parties looking at what the other is willing to accept.

Man that would be ultra stupid for them to give up two first rounders for what will essentially be a conversion project OLB when the draft will be full of cheaper rookies who will also be conversion projects. I doubt they do that.

at the same time, they are losing mike vrabel and getting basically nothing in return. i can't see a mischievous guy like belichick doing that without some kind of plan.

4 years, 45 million?? Can't be true.

Wasn't it rumored last year that the Panthers offer was for 6 years, 70 million give or take?
