Pep to New England *rumor*

Since this thread went special needs, I decided to lurk in a Pats forum. There is some neat theories and rumors in there that haven't been posted here.

Do you think it's a possibility that the pats had the idea of driving down the trade market a bit on franchise players when they took a second for MC?

Before anybody jumps all over me, it's just a wild theory.

In essence we still got almost a 1st, plus BB can say "hey, we only got a second for a franchise QB... what more do you want for a DE/OLB conversion project with a $16.5 Million price tag?"

We might just be able to get him for OUR second plus some spice in the form of mid to late round picks.

Here is another:

An old college buddy of mine is a big Carolina fan and his 'rumour' is that Peppers to NE was the talk of the combine. In his view NE have done part one by freeing up the cap/releasing Vrabel and now its how many of the day 1 picks NE have to part with to get it done. His view was both JP and BB want this bad ... and it happens in the next few days

Take it all with a lot of salt obviously but lets hope we don't give up the farm if we do go for him ... he said most Panther fans wanted/expected at least the Pats 1st and 3rd...

Anyone else think that Peppers and Lucas go together?

i would love for this to happen. if i were hurney id start off asking for there 1st and a second, then move down to two seconds one bein #34 then right before talks break off settle for a second (hopefully #34) and a third. but no matter what happens im ready for some real news. this rumor stuff is driving me crazy

Whether it's delusional or not, I never lose. The constant responses were because I got that you said I was "pwn'd," but never saw anything "pwn" worthy from that dick monger. My use of "your mama" jokes towards Captain DooDoo Pole were merely a way of expressing "I don't give a sh*t" and that I didn't find the tampon reference humorous or amusing, but rather a typical response from a queef. So, as it stands, I am the ultimate winner, I am the Tony Robbins of Carolina Huddle. I am awesome. I am amazing. I am undoubtedly and undeniably unshakable.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a sit-down with James Lipton in about 37 minutes to discuss my aura. Thanks.

See, that went right where I wanted it to. Sometimes it's cool to be dumb.

Dude come down, I mean seriously you talk poo over a message board, and honeslty we all think your a DUMBASS. TRY THIS ONE. Tampon_Plushie_by_aptiva.jpg:cool: GLAD I COULD HELP.

I know. The Pats are the best about being silent during these times and the Panthers are getting pretty good at it as well.

Hurney holds the cards. I bet it's the other way around and Hurney is getting ready to find a way to keep Peppers just in case. The Pats have 6 first day picks as it stands. There is no reason they won't give up their 1st and a 2nd then trading up to get whatever draft pick they want.

This is what is so tiresome... We've basically heard the same rumor spun 500 different ways by guys who know a guy who knows a guy. Yet, all of the rumors haven't been picked up by a legit source yet. Gantt just basically reported it as a rumor but no one has deemed it viable or that talks are even officially taking place. I just want to know whether it is going on or not.

From what I've read, Pep isn't going anywhere unless we get a deal that blows our socks off. Hurney sounded pretty headstrong about that. Then Gross followed those comments with his "he may stay or he may not" which brought the possibility that Pep was intrigued by the changes to the defensive staff/defense.

So, at this point, it's hard for me to believe that this much progress has been made in talks with a team that has f*cked everyone they have dealt with historically when it comes to personnel. I know Richardson and Kraft are friends, but they have nothing to do with the personnel aspect, so I just don't think we'd be moved to deal Pep to the Pats especially with some possible hard feelings from our Superbowl loss in '03.

What throws a wrench into that is the silence of our FO and the fact that it's inconceivable that we would allow Pep to keep that cap number and paralyze us from replacing our lost depth on OL and adding needed talent on the defense. [/special needs]

I agree that the Pats are about the only team that could make a move for Pep. Bucs and Saints seem like a couple of players.

But, now the Pats have the cap room, draft picks to make a deal. If any team moves on Pep, it will be the Pats.

Or will it?

Pats don't do big money deals like this unless they are sure of the outcome.

I think, Pepp to the Pats, would really show Pepp's ability.

sh*t take all 3 of their 2nd round picks this year and its a done deal. I don't care for 1st this year and next year we need talent now. We would have 4 2nd picks that gives us the ability to trade up if we want. Besides we could get some damn good quality depth on the offensive and defensive lines with 4 2nd round picks.

And early Monday news report...

Patriots | To make run at Peppers?

Mon, 02 Mar 2009 05:55:48 -0800

John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, reports the New England Patriots could attempt to make a run at Carolina Panthers DL Julius Peppers with the cap money they saved and the draft pick acquired in the trade of QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs.
