Just swallow your pride .. buy a camry and you'll save so much on gas you will forget the monthly bill which also isn't that much.

We'll be paying cash, so there won't be a monthly payment. I'm looking for an SUV to replace my Explorer but did drive a Camry... nice car, but I like my wife's 2005 Focus better.

drive an accord v6, not a huge fan of the big 3 but stay with ford if you must. They are the only merican brand I would consider buying..

I like the 08-10 Explorers, but would like to improve gas mileage if I can; Explorer now gets 13-15, so it won't be hard to improve 25-30%. I like the Equinox, but the used (and new) prices seem way high for a small/mid size. Would love something with switchable 4WD... most crossovers and small SUVs anymore seem to either be AWD or automatic switching. Would like to stay under $23K or so for an 08-10 w/ features, and should easily be able to by staying patient.

i'd only buy GM. i drive a silverado. the wife drives a trailblazer. neither has presented any problems, and are 03 and 04 models.

<<<drives 04 Silverado. I am about to sell it though and will miss it. Great truck with about 73K miles on it. Going from a truck to a BMW. Yeah I am that guy. :(

That should be pretty easy.

Explorers don't really hold their value all that well anyway.

Word. We both like the Highlander as well, and a Highlander/Pilot may be the route we end up going. I wouldn't mind staying with an American vehicle, but their SUVs in that size just don't seem to compare in terms of valuation and mileage.
