The Broncos are actively shopping Jay Cutler

Broncos would be foolish to let him go - he's their shot at starting well out of the gate and working from there. He's their shot at being able to work on the defense without neglecting the offense.

Unless they know something we don't, it would be way way way beyond foolish. It's simply unheard of for a team to draft a 1st round QB (11th overall), and turn around and trade him when he's just now entering his prime years. Unless of course he's a bust, which Cutler is not.

I guess my screaming for Brandon Jacobs the year we drafted Shelton was a horrible time to listen to a "fan"

Panthro - 1

Mr Scot - 0

Panthers FO - 0

Front offices don't always make the right decision (Lord knows ours has whiffed) but even with that said I'd never suggest they listen to any of us for advice.

Peppers for Cutler is the biggest no brainer of the year.

I agree. I have always been a Delhomme fan, but you just can't pass up an opportunity like this. If there is, in fact, and opportunity there.

To be fair though, Cutler threw 10 more TD's last year, but he also threw 6 more INT's than Delhomme, so the difference is not as vast as some people think right now, especially when you consider how good our running game was in the redzone (Jake didn't need to throw as much to score TD's). The real advantage is that Cutler is younger and has the potential to be much better in the future.

You would rather keep someone that doesn't want to play for us any more and a washed up QB that's going to be one of the oldest starting quarterbacks in the league next year over a young Pro Bowl QB like Cutler? Think of the future here. Jake's contract is up after next year. QBs like Cutler aren't available that often, I'd rather cut ties with Jake a year early and go after Cutler than wait until next season and have no clue who the starting QB is going to be. One thing you can be certain of is if we draft a QB in 2010, he won't be as good as Cutler is at least not right away.

You misread what I said. I said I agree with you. I was being facetious by taking the party line from the Panthers' Org and others who think Peppers is the do all and be all followed closely by Jake.

If the Broncos offered Cutler for Peppers straight-up, which they would not do, I would say 'Julius don't let the door hit you'.

No way it's even a possibility. Even though with Cutler we may have the best all around offense in the league. I'd do it in a heartbeat. We weren't that great up front WITH Peppers last year, while you say it may get worse, I don't think it will. We could get a couple guys to help out up there and all that.

In the end though, it's just not going to happen. I'd love to have him here though. Face it guys, in 2-3 years, Jake will be completely done, and we'll be horrible for a couple years, probably bouncing around between vet QB's until getting lucky on someone like Jake. We don't seem interested in developing a QB out of the draft. Sucks, but that's how it is.

we would suck for years if we did that.

offense might be decent but our defense would make us the next broncos or, worse yet, saints.

think, people.

this is a dumb idea.

No disrepect; but, why is it a dumb idea?

A francise QB for a 29 year old DE...I'll take that trade any day of the week, paritcularly for a DE who isn't exactly Reggie White, or even close.

Its not like the Panthers could stop anybody the 2nd half of the season WITH Julius Peppers. I know, optimism with the new DC. I am fairly certain the new DC will look like the old DC as the common equation is the head coach.
