The Broncos are actively shopping Jay Cutler

2008 Season QB ratings:

16. Cutler, 86.0

18. Delhomme, 84.7

Just saying.

Oh yes, QB rating, the best stat to show how good a QB is.

John Elway 79.9

Dan Marino 86.4

Terry Bradshaw 70.9

Brett Favre 85.4

Warren Moon 80.9

QB rating is the dumbest 'stat' if you can call it that, in any sport ever.

So please........

Fine, W/L record is out, lack of accomplishment is out, the fact that he whines to the media and all of the other character questions Fireball brought up is out, QB rating is out...

Please, someone let me know why he's a better deal for Peppers than draft picks?

I don't care about all that other stuff, just saying that QB rating is bum.

I think I would rather have the picks at this point, but Peppers for Cutler and a later round pick would be interesting for sure.

But if you want a reason.........

You say or think his stats are comparable to Jakes, or are implying that he isn't that much better than Jake because you showed us the QB rating.

I would say to you Jake is 34, Jay is 25.

Lets see we would get a QB who has a few points higher QB rating, and have him for 9 or so years.

Whereas Jake is on his last leg.

In a previous post I acknowledged that Cutler would be an upgrade at QB, immediately, nevermind the long term. My points are a.) QB is not the biggest area of need that should be addressed by trading Peppers, and b.) if QB should be addressed, we shouldn't spend whatever "value" we can salvage from Peppers on Cutler.

my counter argument to that is cutler is probably a top five qb already after only his second year, is a sure bet, and is a bigger upgrade at that position than any draft DE/DT we could get in the first round would be at theirs.

If he is a top-5 QB, then you are absolutely correct.

I'm just unconvinced that he is.

that would be wins for a pitcher

That is a good one, but it doesn't bother me nearly as much as the QB rating system.

This is true too, Cutler is likely better than anyone in this years draft at any position.

Will you people quit dreaming?

Josh McDaniels was clearly infatuated with Matt Cassel, and was willing to trade Jay Cutler if it meant he could get him. The Broncos aren't going to try to trade Cutler again unless they get a franchise caliber QB in return, so how in the world is Cutler going to find his way to Carolina, much less any other team?

Trade Peppers in some deal to Kansas City for Cassel, then ship Cassell to Denver for Cutler, problem solved
