Crucial move?

Upgrading Marshall will not be a problem. Although it appears that Aso will be the only "Big Name" CB on the market, there should still be quite a few capable CBs from which to select. I saw a list in an article, and could not believe the number of CBs about to hit hte market. So if the Panthers feel they need to find a repacement for Marshall, they should have plenty of choices.

IMO, Rivera is in a bind. He knows very littlle about his team. Other than game film and personal obsevations, he ain't sure what he has. He really does not have enough time to figure out what exactly his team needs, let alone figure out what FAs he should be targeting. Not to mention getting the Rookie FAs he wants, although I am fairly positive he probably already has a list for those. Add that all up, and I can see his time being pulled in several directions at once,

That said, Rivera did put together a very good staff, so I feel like these things should work themselves out just fine. Or not.

Just a thought or two, and GOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many Panther games do you think Rivera has gone back and watched? I mean, I know he's watched all of last season, but how far back do you think he's actually gone? I personally think Rivera has watched every Panther game in the John Fox era. What you think?

Certainly all of last year, and probably as many games as the current roster have played. In lieu of practice time, it is the only evaluation tool at his disposal. I would believe Rivera is scouting the players, not the coach. So I do not see him watching any Panther game that one of his players is not participating.

This is one of the main reasons this year could start out a tad shakey. Rivera and his staff could only have weeks to evaluate, teach, and install before the actual games begin. So I guess we shall see how well Rivera can coach, and the players can learn, by how long it takes to be a decent football team.

Also, as a side note. We should get a good feel as to the direction the Panthers are going to take. By how they handle the time between the CBA being signed, and training camp and games begin.

One less thought I will never get back. And GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
