Iphone vs Droid

I have a Droid and love it. Got the one with the pull out keyboard because afraid I would not like touchscreen keyboard. I like touchscreen a lot better than I though. Easier to use than regular keyboard on this Droid ( reg--keys too small).

Have had no experience with iphone...so cannot compare.

Funny enough, I was having this same conversation with a friend today. So I got home and checked my Verizon account and turns out I'm eligible for an upgrade. Do you use Swype to type on your Droid X? What phones should I keep an eye out for?

I've never bothered to try swype... the normal keyboard works great.

Saltman made some good recommendations... from what I hear the Galaxy 2S is the best phone ever.

Just upgraded to the HTC Incredible 2 from the LG Ally. Loved my Ally, the only reason I upgraded was because my screen got stepped on.

So far, I absolutely love the Incredible 2. Other than 4G the Inc. 2 matches or beats almost every spec on the iPhone4 and it is half the price.

All that said, if you're a Mac guy get the iPhone.

I would choose the iPhone. I'm getting one soon. I have personally had bad experiences with both Droid phones I have had. The operating system has always been prone to error on my phones. Half the screen disappears, text messaging threads freeze up, touch screen doesn't function, and a lot of delays.

Now, I seem to be the only person that has really had consistent problems like these that I know of. I'm just worn out on Droid.

Your not the only person.... I had a Droid, a droid 2, then back to a droid....

I am also switching to the iphone... My droids have been buggy as hell. Also the Apps or not as convenient at polished as the apps on the iphone IMO.

I think with this open market apps you get a lot of apps that really are not up to par.... At the end of the day I just don't like it.... I phone+ I tunes+ their Apps are all I need in a phone.

At the end of the day it's a personal preference. Some will say Droid's are far superior to the iPhone, and others will say the opposite. I've dealt with both as I had a girlfriend who had the iphone and I enjoyed her phone 10X better than my droids.

But if you get an android phone, pay the extra $$$$ for insurance... it's saved my a$$ multiple times.

I got a droid X2 on the 4th. Didnt really want a smart phone but if you upgraded you got unlimited data as opposed to two gigs now for same price and it was time for me to upgrade anyways. If you have 4g in your area get that, if not save some scratch and get a 3g.

Cons smartphones are big and bulky, cant throw it in my pocket like my last phone.

I have been using Android since the first device came out (T-Mobile G1). Right now I have the HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon. I have big hands, so a device with a 4.0+ inch screen is much easier to type on IMO.

I also don't have many qualms with iOS. I've personally never used an iPhone, but I do own an iPad. To me, the entire iOS seems way dumbed down or idiot proofed. I liken it to being forced to use safety scissors even though you know how responsibly use a pair of regular scissors.

Either way, you can't really go wrong.

Recommendations for Verizon:

Android, no keyboard: Droid Incredible 2

Android, keyboard: Droid 3

iOS: iPhone 4 (Duh, no choice)

I don't really recommend ANY Android phone from AT&T. They don't let you side load apps (Meaning, if you want to develop them that would be important.)

I currently have Verizon. I went to the store yesterday and talked to a VERY HOT sales girl about the differences. Verizon carries the Iphone now but they charge an extra $80 fee to activate it. She recommended buying it at the Apple store and having them activate it on your Verizon account and bypassing that fee. I played with some of the Droid phones and I wasn't impressed. I thought the Iphone was easier to use, but my current phone has a keyboard and I realized how used to it I've gotten. So I haven't really made a decision yet...going to hit up the Apple store this week and see what they can offer.

isnt the droid battery power poo? get an iphone

It's not shitty, it's just inconsistent. But that's to be expected when you're trying to program software to run on 50 different hardware configurations. Apple has the advantage of having like three different phones they need to program for, and they've also been doing it longer.

I've read that 2.3.4 fixed a lot of the issues with battery drain on gingerbread. I know for a fact that it fixed my problems.
