I'm making a blind assumption (so don't kill me if I'm wrong), but I think the reason crossfit has a good rep is because it teaches people that you can't just focus on cardio or weightlifting alone to get good results.

A good routine always involves both weightlifting and cardio/aerobic workout. In my current efforts I'm mostly looking to trim down/burn fat so my mix has been about 60% cardio with 40% weightlifting. I'll generally warm up with a 2 mile run, do my weight training in the middle, then finish up with another 2 mile run. The combination of calorie burning from cardio and increased demand to create muscle mass from the lifting gets pretty solid results.

walking door to door looking for a job will help you lose a few pounds!

sorry..it was there!

I need a good program too, but more importantly, a coach to motivate me and get me to actually do the program!

I'm in the same boat Kurb, and I'm trying something new. I've done this several times where I'll loose a bunch of weight, get sexy, then go completely to fat. Why do I torture myself? Anyways, I'm going crazy on core exercises and stretches. I did some research and looking around lately and the big thin most people trash is the core. So I'm spending most of the summer working on cardio and my core in order to get a good base before I do the macho squats, benches or other presses. Hopefully I won't screw it up again, I figure that my 30s are a great time to be good looking... =)

Good luck man!

Crossfit is so successful because it's fun, harnesses your competitive spirit, and lets people do things they normally wouldn't, like olympic lifts, or rope climbings, or flipping tires, etc.

Most importantly, it gets results.
