Bleacher report About our panthers

The article was full of hyperbole and exaggerations, but that's just a writer trying to be pithy. I don't expect any article to say "Panthers are going to be great this year..". We haven't given them any reason to expect a significantly improved team so far. The BR article does mention some of the decisions that have been made to make this team better, but both the head coach and rookie QB are untested in their new roles. Our moves in the FA market will be a better measure of the front office commitment to the team, and will shine a spotlight on the areas of improvement that RR feels are important.

It's not the best article I have ever read (since it contained NO information I didn't already know), nor is it the worst. I guess it's just another little filler article in this lockout summer.

I must be the only one that thinks our team isn't bad and with a serviceable quarterback we would have been at least 8-8. We had more pro-bowlers than wins..obviously we can improve some positions, like depth in d-line, but to say our team is bad/one of the worst/etc is dramatic and clearly is not the reason we were 2-14. However if you are judging team performance based on quarterback play, then yes we were horrible. But I believe we still averaged over 100 rushing ypg IIRC..and that was with the opponents putting 8-10 guys in the box. Maybe I am mistaken, but I think we would have competed in the NFC South if we had decent quarterback play.

Dude, our o-line was horrid.

Yeah the o-line started off horrible but I believe they got better as the season went on, as far as run blocking goes..115 rypg. I blame some of the poor pass blocking on the quarterback not making reads fast enough though.

It is tough to be fan of a really bad football team.

EFF that! We're not a "really bad football team"

We're one of the best "worst" teams in NFL history! We're better than some teams last year that had a better record than us. We were plagued by injuries and a chit coaching staff and offensive play caller coupled with poor decisions over the last few years from the front office on how to handle the QB situation we replace a washed up QB with a practice squad scrub we stole from another team and backed him up with a couple of rookies and that was our front offices approach to solving our QB problems that Jake left behind.

We are a far better team than our efforts showed last season. Yes, we're due another losing season due to a new coaching staff, young QB's, and the lockout ruining our preseason prep coupled with a tough schedule but we should win 4-6 games, get another top draft pick and make more improvements. In Rivera's second season, we should return to our winning ways and in the playoffs again in another season or two. We'll get back to the superbowl before the Lions will and well before the Jags ever will.

So bite me!

I think our lack of a passing game made our whole team look bad.I know we had other weak spots and the blocking was not as good as it should been but when you do not having a passing game the chain is not going to move and the defense is going to get tired and frustrated. Can Newton fix that his first season is yet to been seem but history is working against him coupled with the CBA

they were bad yes, BUT it could've been worse, alot worse, take example the winless lions, the winless Bucs, the Texans in Carr's rookie year trying to get him killed, the Cowboys in Aikman's rookie year werent all that great either, and of course who can forget the Panthers team that lost 15 games in a row, that was far worse than last years. At least Fox can coach defenses up. George Shiefert was a mistake hire and wasnt as good as some thought, was this team bad yes, they were young and ineffective and the blame is on alot of guys including the coaches, SOME players and of course the owner.

The 2001 team that lost 15 games in a row would have beat the living poo out of last years team, that's pretty much undeniable. That being said, Bleacher Report articles that say anything about teams being the best or worst for anything in NFL history are pretty absurd because the writers are way too young to make generalizations about that kind of thing. It's like when my buddies 12 year old brother says Lil' Wayne is the best rapper of all time. Kid wasn't even alive when Wayne first came out.
