She's not really my friend and it is true. Pharmacists usually make around $110,000 so she thinks she'll be able to pay it off. Last I heard of her she was trying to get engage to some guy who just became a pharmacist. She did not tell him about 590k debt...

That marriage is going to go well.

My friend graduated with 4 year degree... couldnt find a job so he went for masters in accounting... got $35,000 more in loans... Still can't find a job. He owes like $90,000. I worked with a girl, she owes $590,000 to state in tuition money. She got a masters in sports medicine and couldnt find a job so now she decided to go to pharmacy school. Not smart.

Point is... When you graduate, you better find a job somehow or somewhere. G'ment will come after you hard.

It is impossible to run up those kind of loan numbers unless you are a total fugtard. Either your friend is lying to you, or she is getting what she deserves. The interest on 600k worth of student loans, even at something like 3% interest rate is going to be 18k a year.

I have 2 BS degrees, a masters, and a JD from a private school and carried just 105k in loans after graduation.

Yea, I was going to say how in the heck could she do that? Even Wake Forest, which (at 45 grand a year) is one of the most expensive schools in the state wouldn't run that much if you got a doctorate.

She went to ECU and party her ass of for 6 years and she never worked a day. She failed to find a job so she decided to go to Wingate all the way for Pharm.D which is another 6 years. Pharmacy school is expensive as hell, especially when you takeout loans to support yourself. She is hot as hell tho... She got a bubblebutt and messive tatas but shes dumb as fug.

Wingate is $30,000 a semester. 12 x 30,000 = $360,000 plus she took out loans for living. So it is very possible.

That's more like it. As soon as you stated that number I thought 'partier that coasted through school not doing a damn thing'.

The only advice I have for young people going into or in school already is to get a degree in IT. Just go to CPCC and get do just enough to get a job. I just got a new job and didn't even put my degree on my resume. While unemployment is up and everyone is desperate for a job, the IT industry is blowing up with new jobs. I think all the outsourcing is going to be a thing of the past; now people have to maintain the horrible applications that were built overseas and seeing what the real cost of IT is. Employers are fighting for people.

I think he said its not possible unless she were an idiot (well he used a different word). :)

IMO, it would be better to get a job working in a pharmacy at the photo desk than to incur 500 grand in debt.

Fortunately, I never incurred any college debt because of the GI Bill. Thanks to all you taxpayers out there. :)

I would add a few to that. Nursing for example is a field that will expand, especially after the economy picks up. I also think that railroads are going to be good companies to work for in the future. As the price of gas increases, rail becomes a much more efficient way of moving freight over long distances and to a certain extent will replace trucking.

My tuition at Wake from 04-07 was ~33k a year. I worked while at school and was able to pay my housing and everyday expenses. Even if I had taken out 15k a year to cover housing and expenses, I would have only been looking at ~150k in total debt for law school.

Again, this guy's friend is a total fugtard or a liar or both.

Nursing is actually hurting right now. UNC actually contracted the size of this year's nursing class.
