Rookie QB in Best Situation

Doesn't matter, the writer is correct. Stop acting all homerish. Cam is in the middle of a rebuilding team with vets who may want to leave. He is entering a team whose owner will sacrifice the team for the NFL. This is why the vets want out or at the least get frustrated, they are there to win. This site always bashes posters saying JR is cheap or we are in a bad situation well open your eyes, we are. The facts don't lie. As a fan it's hard to accept but it must be done because we should expect more.

I expect hell of a lot of JR this year. If he doesn't do thins I want will I no longer be a fan? Blasphemy. But it will change my opinion of him as an owner and founder, it will change a lot of people's opinion and respect. Right now it isn't as well as it could be and for good reason. Cam really helped us by giving something to hope for.

NFL Total Access talking about this now.. their general breakdown consists of:

(Mayock) Jake Locker: best friend of a rookie QB is a run game, so he looks for a running game. Locker athletic, and anytime CJ2k is in backfield he has a chance. Also, points out Ponder for the same reason.

(Wilcots) Christian Ponder: above-average D, above-average line, and AP in the backfield.

(Baldy) Blaine Gabbert: sitting the bench. Able to sit behind Garrard.

then the question is asked why Cam isn't mentioned. They point to us going 2-14.

we can claim it's because they don't follow us, and if 2-14 was the only reason they said that I'd agree they were kinda dumb, but out of those 3 guys I'd honestly I'd love to say Gabbert is in the best situation for a rookie - but we saw how what seemed like a great situation for Clausen turned into a terrible situation when a lame duck coach's system was exposed... same could happen to Gabbert.

The Vikings are literally one year removed from contending for a Super Bowl so I think Ponder is in the best situation - the offense should still be quite potent and the defense has the potential to be great. I think that Locker is actually coming in to the worst situation what with the CJ Holdout and other off the field issues the Titans are having, and I think that we're either tied with jacksonville for the second best situation for a rookie or perhaps a little less homerish actually third out of four, it's hard for me to separate my belief that Rivera is going to rock from objectivity.

of course, maybe I am vastly overrating the talent and coaching the Vikings actually have... that is very possible :P

yeah it's kinda mixed between reality and anti-JR stuff, but he has some general points in that this team is pretty much hardcore rebuilding, we have a real chance of losing our only veteran receiver this year as well as our best lineman and our best back (imo even though he is my favorite player, loss of DWill would hurt less than CJ)... and we still have other questions across the defense and a couple on offense.

overall we're an extremely young team. we're set up for a young quarterback to step up and take us sky high - or push us into a freefall like last season :jc: (ok yes I know it wasnt even mostly his fault, I'm just being difficult)

the guys they talked about have a good chance of playing week 1.

there's almost no chance in hell mallett sees playing time any time soon.

i didn't know it was decided on playing time. i know mallett won't see any sort of that soon, i was just saying he is in a good situation and he will learn a lot.

Don't think the Panthers are rebuilding. Need to upgrade 3-4 positions. That plus our upgrade on HC should get some pretty good results.

we aren't revamping our roster by any means, but we are adding a new regime who will retool it as they see fit..

I would have to say that technically we are rebuilding.. we have 3 new systems being installed (off, def, st teams) along with putting a few of those positions together..

entirely new coaching staff, desperate need at 1-4 positions, need depth at many more, rookie at quarterback... we're rebuilding.

it's possible that the rebuilding will be finished by the end of the year, but this is a year that I think it is fair to say the team is in a process of rebuilding.

but many of those other teams are in fairly similar situations... but IMO a couple of them are just in better situations than us...
