Skins may let Rogers walk...

MWCarolina joins the long list of carolinahuddle posters who don't have a goddamn idea what they're talking about.

TRUST me, i KNOW what i am talking about, i am a Redskins fan and have SEEN Rogers play and he is PART of the reason why they sucked for years. he could've had 3 Interceptions in ONE game!!!! i am NOT saying Rogers sucks because he doesnt, i think he would be a GREAT signing for Carolina, but i dont think he's better than Aso or Revis or any shutdown corner. Rogers isnt' a shutdown corner because teams throw his way without fear of interceptions.

True, look at Nmandi he has only 11 interceptions, now by people looking at that stat alone would say he's mediocre. But he's not, it's just that QB's never throw on where he's covering.

Nmandi and Carlos Rogers are different though. Nmandi is one on one and teams throw away from him. Rogers has been thrown at alot (as i have said alot of times, he could've had 3 interceptions in a game, but dropped all three) teams throw at Rogers, but dont fear him catching them, if he caught them, then i believe he would be a shutdown corner, i agree that interceptions arent great stats to judge corners, BUT to say that Rogers is a great corner or a shutdown corner needs to watch Redskins games and see what teams did. i watched him play for years, i know about Rogers, i think he's worth the risk because he CAN figure out this issue and if he does he's a steal because then he will be a shutdown cornerback.

Cromartie is one of the most over rated players in the league.

Apparently he slings some serious sausage though.

Cromartie is very fast and can intercept, but he's a gambler. when it comes to intercepting he's better than Rogers, BUT when it comes to covering, Rogers wins. Cromartie reminds me of a better version of DeAngelo Hall, can intercept, but can get burnt and burnt badly.

Never said he was a shutdown corner, but at least he can make a solid tackle, and deflect passes. He would be a major upgrade from Marshall.

This would be an awesome pickup to start opposite Gamble and rotate Munnerlyn in as needed and at nickel.

It's crazy, Rogers must've been an older guy coming out of college because it does not seem like he'd be 30 now. Didn't he come out the same year as Marcus McNeill, McClover, etc. Didn't think those guys were that old yet... Not that 30 is old, just didn't know he was already 30.

Regardless, CBs can play into their late 30s depending on how they hold up, and do it well. From what I remember, Rogers was rangy and athletic, and still appeared that way when I've seen him play over the years but IIRC kind of found his way into the dog house at sometime since Shannahan took over (who doesn't?).

My plan would be to go after Joseph first, and if he's really looking to blow up our payroll with a mega-deal, I'd immediately put all of our focus into Rogers. In fact, pursue them both and see who agrees first. Rogers would be awesome here. I love the idea.

i never said that you said that, it was the fact that one guy accused me of having NO knowledge on Rogers, as both a Panther and Redskins fan i KNOW about Rogers. yes he's a good tackler (i think he's better than solid on tackling), he can deflect passes and is a major upgrade over Marshall and Gamble, the issue is he drops interceptions which means teams will challenge him because they arent afraid of him. i like him and Carolina should sign him (because he's out in Washington, they will get either Eric Wright or Ike Taylor).

Joseph is worth the money, but my question is do they (the panthers) give it to him???? i see him either with the Bengals or possibly Raiders or another corner needy team, i dont think Washington opens their checkbook for him and think they get Wright or Ike Taylor.

As for Rogers, i think he was 24 coming out of college, maybe 23, he was a senior i am pretty sure on that. Rogers IS randy and athletic, needs to catch more interceptions to be considered great, but that's fixable. As for Rogers and Shanahan, i dont think he was in his doghouse like Haynesworth and McNabb were. if he caught more ints in Washington, i see him franchised right now, but i think they want to move on from Rogers.

i wouldn't necessarily want rogers covering a fast receiver like desean jackson. the dude is great in the slot though. big upgrade from marshall. dropped INTs are annoying, but there is no questioning his ability to be in the right place at the right time and stop the pass . i'd take him easily. should be relatively inexpensive considering you're getting a legit starting caliber CB. not my top choice, but a pretty solid one.

Aso probably wants to go to a winning team, and there are too many inquires over him, for us to even bid. He's too expensive and is a far stretch in many fans minds.

Not suggesting at all its even probable, but that is what the thread was about. I try not to give my hope up and fantasize a little, you never know, a lot of fans said Cam was a far stretch as well thinking about our FO.

and interceptions are a stupid stat.

I gave Fiz pie, a baby just died.

they are, but the stats i look at with Rogers (because i have seen him play) is times thrown around and he has been tested, but like i said, he's worth it because IF he solves the dropped INTs issue then he could be like Aso and teams will throw another way.
