Skins may let Rogers walk...

Aso over Rogers, but I would be very happy with rogers. Shutting down the field is much better advantage. Interceptions to me are a plus, they don't matter if they can't score in the first place but interceptions 1. no guarantee of an interception and 2. no guarantee it will mean the game is won 3. interceptions don't always mean points

Aso probably wants to go to a winning team, and there are too many inquires over him, for us to even bid. He's too expensive and is a far stretch in many fans minds.

let me be the first to say that i am also a Redskins fan (yes i have two teams that i follow) and i know a little bit about Carlos Rogers. and i will get to them.

Asomugha has had 3 interceptions over the past 4 years yet is a top 2 conerback in the NFL. But we all know Munnerlyn is no Asomugha. Theres more to CB than just interceptions. He may be really good at coverage and QBs don't want to take a chance to throw his way.

true, true and let me just say i would LOVE Asomugha on either the Redskins or Panthers, but i see the Redskins getting one of my favorite corners (if he's unrestricted) Eric Wright. i predict Carolina to get Rogers for some odd reason.

Let's see, interceptions or closing down half the field? Hmm.....

Umm, it's not the closing half the field part to why his interceptions are so low, it's the fact that he drops alot of them, he's a pro bowl player IF he catches the ball, QBs throw his way because they have no worries on him catching the ball, they throw away from Revis because they know he will catch it. Rogers is great with coverage, but if he is to be a true shut down corner, he HAS to catch the ball and put fear in QBs, BUT he is a good corner to sign for Carolina because he's different than what Carolina has had.

Rogers is a solid NFL starter. He's just not an INT guy. Actually skills wise he's better then Deangelo Hall but Hall gets INT's and the glory.

i wont say he's solid, he's a good corner who would be great if he caught his interceptions, he's dropped at least 3 in one game! As for Hall, he's better than Hall as a cover corner, but Hall actually catches his interceptions, Rogers drops them, Rogers would be franchised if he caught interceptions.

And we all know Rogers is no Asomugha either, all Im saying is the guy hasnt had a 9th overall pick career and here at the end of it he may want more money, hince the skins not resinging him.

uhh, he has played good, but is he playing like a 9th overall pick, no. his drops have hurt momentum that they would've had. i dont think it's the money, Washington can afford him, i think they are just wanting to move on from Rogers get someone like Ike Taylor or a cheaper corner and then spend money on a nose tackle and possibly a WR and RB. he wouldnt be a bad sign for Carolina if the price is right.

are you ready to settle for Eric Wright? So you can't afford the top of the top FAs but you can afford the mid to low of the top FAs and you don't want him because of his INT numbers.

i like him now and hope Washington gets him for cheap because i really dont see Rogers being a Redskin, the redskins will want to spend their money on Franklyn (from the 49ers) and likely a WR and re-sign other free agents (Moss, Jammal Brown), Eric Wright is someone i like though. i hope Washington gets him and Carolina gets Rogers who can be a shutdown corner if he solves the interception issue.

Then he'd fit right in with Chris Gamble.

hahaha, Rogers is a good corner who could be great if he catches the ball, Gamble lives up to his name, he's a gambler and catches a little bit more than Rogers, but can get burnt.

He wouldn't be a bad stop gap.

No he wouldnt, he's a starting corner who is still young.

I think the guy is okay and for the right price take him but to say the guy is a shutdown corner is retarded.

Agreed, he's not a shutdown cornerback.

Sounds like sheldon brown.

Not a bad comparison for me, good cover guy, but not great on catching.

you can be a shutdown corner and never catch an INT.

Disagree, to be a shutdown corner, you must put fear into QBs and have them not throw the ball near you because of the fear of a interception. Rogers got thrown around alot when in Washington, but he dropped the interceptions, he had 3 in his hands in one game that he dropped. he's a good corner who would be great to possible shutdown if he caught the ball. a change of scene could fix this issue though. which is why i say, take the risk

Rogers is closer to being like Aso than Munnerlyn is for sure. We can't afford to be picky just because a guy isn't named Jonathan Josepth or Ike Taylor or Aso himself.

Rogers is like Aso without the hands. he's a good sign for potential, i could see Josepth come to Carolina, no to Ike and Aso though.

And also we can agree that good coverage is a must but int 's lead to points which is something we need desperately.

my issue is that his dropped interceptions hurt alot of the momentum they could've had if he caught the interception and some could've been touchdowns.

rodgers may have the worse hands of any corner i have ever seen......i seen some passes hit him smooth in the hands and he still dropped it

hahaha, i think he does have the worst hands of a starting corner, now this could change if he works on it and maybe a change of scene will fix this, but yeah he had passes right in his hands just fall out.

well literally an infinite amount of things happened en route to this interception but i think taking these singular actions out of the cosmic ether and analyzing them individually is a completely legitimately way to judge one player vs another

interceptions are the second dumbest fuging stat behind sacks.

True, look at Nmandi he has only 11 interceptions, now by people looking at that stat alone would say he's mediocre. But he's not, it's just that QB's never throw on where he's covering.
