Do you smell what's cooking in San Diego?

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune suggests GM A.J. Smith will be more willing to deal Vincent Jackson this year than last.

Acee emphasizes that he's not suggesting the Bolts will deal V-Jax, only that an offer of a second-rounder plus a conditional mid-round pick would have a much better chance of being accepting this time around. Jackson is willing to play under the franchise tag, but he's yet to sign for 2011. Acee's revelation is interesting in light of earlier reports that Steve Smith's preference is play in San Diego.

AJ Smith wants Steve Smith and he talked about him the whole offseason... Looks like a good chance V-Jax comes here, Smith plus mid-round pick goes to San Diego.

PS: AJ already said that he will not sign V Jax to a long term deal.

Smitty and a 3rd?

DEAL.

Smitty isn't perfect either, you could say a lot of things about him as well. Sorry but Smitty vs. a younger receiver, who already knows the offense will be much better for this young team + Cam and better for Smitty too but I'd be happy with either and we better have one or the other.

screw sending smith to SD.

2nd and a conditional later round pick for vjax? yes, please...

Smitty, Jjax and Gettis + 3 other receivers drafted early? Sounds overkill but obviously you are in dream mode, don't think it would happen.

I know the Panthers have changed a little in this offseason, But I really don't think they will touch a player that is one infraction from missing a year.

they'd have to have a lot of faith in ron the "molder of men" rivera

Deal or No Deal smitty and 3 or 4 for Vincent jackson "Deal". There is no way we can turn this Deal down. We will have to be Crazy Jackson is one of the Best WR in the league today. I Love Smitty No Homo but In this deal there is no way we can get anything better.

    • Wilks is a nobody in the grand scheme of things.  He is right back out of the NFL, exactly where he was before Carolina dragged him back to the NFL.  I don't see what he has to be pissed or salty about. He got a shot with 2 teams and was just a average coach as he has always been.  He is a lesser Fox/Rivera
    • The way BY must play quarterback has a much higher degree of difficulty.  Coupled with his physical limitations his margin for error is small.    The guy evading the blitz and dropping a dime deep over double coverage is more exciting then a wobbling ball thrown into the blitz with good enough placement that gets 6 yards on a 3rd and 5.  It's been beat to death that he will never be the first guy.  He was the second guy vs the Chiefs.    The second guy is harder to do because it's mostly mental:  reading, reacting and processing the correct solution that the defense provided within a second or two.    It's harder to see on film, it's harder to evaluate.  That's why I think there's a divergence between fans yelling "noodle armed middle schooler!!" and analysts going "hold up, let's not write him off yet"    I personally need to see the Chiefs game be the start of growth before getting hopeful.  Ideally would like to see 1-2 300yd multi td games.  Then I'd expect the entire off season to fix his footwork.  With his physical limitations that footwork needs to be damn near perfect.  I would still bring in competition at the QB spot even in that scenario.
