As long as he splits carries and doesn't get a major injury I think Deangelo can be effective into this 30's. But Stewart will over take him eventually, it's just a natural process.

Why extend Williams, then wait until he's in his 30's and by that time Stewart has aged a bit as well? that's wasting talent. And Who knows Stewart may want to be a starter somewhere in 2013 when his contract is up.

i'm not speaking for him nor do i know his intentions, but...stewart is a hometown boy.

it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him jump at the opportunity to play and be a starter closer to home...especially if a good portion of his contract in carolina is spent with him playing backup.

I don't understand how people think Stewart is having his talent "wasted" by splitting carries. That hasn't affected Williams from being recognized as one of the top backs in the league. If we have to give up Williams to shore up another position on offense then I'm all for it. But I think Williams needs to stay.

That's certainly encouraging that Stewart is finally healthy. I hope he can stay that way, splitting carries never hurts that situation.

I think he'll be fine at around 250 carries a year. He stays fresh and it's less opportunities to have his foot develop some extremely trvial yet increasingly serious injury.

he may be fine.....but I think the run game will be best when your best RB gets the most snaps. That has been Williams....and now it should be Stewart.
