Maggette: Jordan will make Cats Contenders

Yeah, Barnes seems like the kind of player who wants to look cool and hit the big shot. He doesn't seem like a guy who wants to dig in on defense and dive for a loose ball.

Soon as his jump shot isn't falling he's practically a spectator. At least that's what I've seen from him.

Agree totally.

Barnes lacks "it" when it comes to busting his ass on the court. Maybe he will mature into a stronger willed player...

Bet Rivers will be the ACC player of the year bro. Barnes will need to share the ball with 2 or 3 other guys looking to turn some NBA heads. Rivers will be the go to guy at Duke.

Could very well lead the ACC in scoring.

LOL, Just like Seth Curry was supposed to be some stud.

or just like Singler was supposed to be a first round pick according to grits

LOL

Rivers hasnt proven poo, Barnes HAS proven that he is a monster who will only get much, much better his sophmore year. There is a reason he is the only freshman in history to make the all american preseason first team.

I promise you Rivers wont make that list this year.

Well you do have a point. Barnes did back that up with a consistent and stellar year at Carolina in which he made the all american regular season first team.

Oh poo, he didn't even make the all ACC team.

Hmm Curry played like a stud vs North Carolina. I don't remember grg saying he WOULD be a 1st round pick, just that he would pick him in the later round based on what was available. And i also think he will be a solid NBA player.

And lol at the preseason all-american pick..Those writers will NEVER make that mistake again.

He must of done something right considering he is a consensus top 2 pick in the 2012 draft. Plus the fact that as soon as he announced he was returning, unc became the overwhelming favorite to win it all ( again ) in 2012.

You guys all know that if Harrison had choosen duke and Rivers was coming to unc, you would be arguing for Harrison Barnes as the best player on the planet.

LOL

I think Harrison Barnes is an excellent player. He just doesn't have that killer mentality and he also has a lot of inconsistency in his game.

Maybe Roy will coach it out of him this year. But Barnes isn't as good of a player as the UNC folks want you to believe.

Yet my point is that had he choosen Duke or basically any other school, you would be willing to give him more props than you will since you guys all hate unc.

He was inconsistent as a freshman and I agree that with experience and another season playing under Roy, he will be a much better player this year, which is kinda scary for ABCers.

barnes & rivers will both likely be very good nba players, both of their games translate well to the pro style of game. that's what makes the 2012 draft so appealing, we might be able to get a franchise player with any pick in the top 10

I hate carolina, I will give you that, but I give props to their players that are good players. I also call it like I see it. On last year's Carolina and Duke teams, the only great pros that I saw were Barnes and Irving, and I think Irving is going to be a better pro player.

BTW, not really a duke fan, per se, though I do like how K makes his players play.

I am actually a WFU fan. We are aiming for 4 conference wins this year.

:D

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
