Then our management should burn in hell.

It's easy to say that now.

But a lot of people were happy with Emeka as our center (myself included, really I would have been happy with either) coming into the league. No one knew how beastly Howard would be. I think the thinking was that with an expansion team, you wanted to get someone proven in college and not to mess up the first pick ever with someone with higher risk in Howard. Okafor was coming off a national championship over GT if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah and, I swear to God, Howard still had braces when he was drafted. Nobody could have known he would become what he did.

I found Bill Simmon's live blog of that draft, which ends up looking pretty funny now: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/040625

But now people act like everybody wanted Howard back then. It's like the guys who say the lottery is rigged because the Bulls got Rose. Well the Bulls were probably the one of a handful of teams that would have taken him over Beasley.

I still hope we lose a ton and get the best SF prospect in a long time in Harrison Barnes.

Barnes projects to be a SG in the NBA even thought he is 6-8. Look at the games he played poorly in: BC, Miami, Clemson, Va Tech, G. Tech etc. He was matched up with long and athletic guys who effectively shut him down, which is what most of the guys that play the 3 in the NBA are. He just not physical enough to match up with them. Think of Rudy Gay the first couple of years of his career, too frail and not physical enough to play the 3, so played the 2 for a while.

Lol, he also put up a record 40 against a very good defensive team in Clemson in the ACC tourney.

There is no way in hell Barnes isnt a SF and is a SG in the nba, no way in hell.

So you are saying the value of one game is more valuable than the performance over 5 games? Also if memory serves me right, Clemson played a zone defense that game, which is vulnerable to the 3 point shot where Barnes shot 6/8(He also likely would be matched up on a smaller defender if they ran the offense properly against the zone to create a mismatch). He also had a number of open court layups(I can't find out how many, just remember from watching the game). So if you do the math, 18 points from 3's, and at least 6 from open layups, doesn't exactly turn into a strong physical game.

One game does not make a career but to say absurd things like he isnt a sf and is a sg just make you look bad.

Barnes is obviously my guy for the cats next year and most people seem to think he will be the top pick or at very worst the 2nd pick behind Anthony Davis if both come out.

Yeah, Barnes seems like the kind of player who wants to look cool and hit the big shot. He doesn't seem like a guy who wants to dig in on defense and dive for a loose ball.

Soon as his jump shot isn't falling he's practically a spectator. At least that's what I've seen from him.
