In civilized society, yes. But if it fell apart I don't think many people would be too concerned about their level of selfishness.

No one can say for sure what they would do, until that moment actually comes but I really don't think I could take an innocent life, even to save one of my own children. The only evil I can control, is the evil within myself, and in my opinion, intentionally taking an innocent life, is morally wrong, regardless of the motivation.
