Daytona

Just got back in from Daytona. After race, drove all night to get home.

Race was exciting start, exciting finish sandwiching 2 hrs of snoozefest.

Agree with earlier post. With 15 laps or so to go, Gordon/Martin starting marching through the field. Gordon was strongest car out there. Hendrick team was up front early and all but Johnson lead a lap. Then, they all dropped to back of field to nap until end of race.

Nascar will be in trouble if they cannot come up with something other than restrictor plate racing. Because of restrictor plates, they choose between the "pack" stuff from a few years ago, and the stuff we have seen lately.

Neither is that good and relies on luck more often than skill to win a race.

I dont understand how people think its any worse than watching them all get spread out with one guy leading by 5+ seconds on the cookie cutters.

Agreed. Say what you want, but the restrictor plate races are far more exciting than California/Texas/Vegas/Michigan/Chicago/Kansas City. IMO, the only races worth watching anymore are Short Tracks, Road Courses and Restrictor plate races. Everything else is boring and predictable.

well hopefully with the introduction of fuel injection it should eliminate the restrictor plate.. the main the with the plate is there is no (for lack of a better word) snappiness in the accelerator and takes forever to get the car back to speed if the driver lets of the throttle..so maybe next year we wont have to talk about it again!

The old races were so random that it was silly. But exciting at the same time. You would have a pack of 25 cars at the end about 1/3 of which could win with 2 laps to go.

Then it strung out a bit.

And now its 2 car drafting. At first i didn't like it but there is some added drama.

I imagine NASCAR is looking how to change it.

Anyway I was stoked to watch Gordon and Martin marching up and I think they would have won.
