i would be happy with any of these guys (more or less in order)...

Johnathan Joseph- obvious, but will be expensive

Josh Wilson- dude did pretty well in seattle when given a chance, but totally blossomed in baltimore. young and growing into a stud. PFF had him as their 5th best corner last year. still should be pretty affordable.

Chris Carr- should be playing on the outside and would do a good job there. played in the slot last year and just didn't do well. main problem was run defense. on the outside he would be fine.

Ike Taylor- older guy, but still solid. more of a stop gap solution, probably, but should do well as a #2 CB for a couple years while one of the younger guys develops. should be fairly cheap.

Michael Adams- most effective corner in AZ last year (not really saying much). biggest strength is playing the nickel/slot. great tackler and good as a pass rusher. would be cheap. biggest problem is that he is a midget (5'8").

Antonio Cromartie- can be a big playmaker, but massively inconsistent and gets a lot of penalties.

Not that Godfrey is all pro safety, but Marshall made him look awful at times last year

There were games when tall receivers or tight ends would just destroy Marshall.....he was fine as a nickel but that's it. I would never pay top end money for a nickel

Godfrey makes whoever is on his side of the field look bad.

Now, Marshall isn't good.....but nobody is making Godfrey look bad. Godfrey is never where he is suppose to be.

Anybody know what Munnerlyn's intended number of targets defensed % is? I'm willing to bet it was around 50 or so, but I have no idea.

Marshall never struck me as being that quick or fast, and always seemed to blow coverage on his side. I think that's why he's better suited in a cover 2/zone pressing style defense.

Marshall's leave has been over due. He doesn't even want to be here. Munnerlyn is a better player imo. Small or not, he has the heart of a warrior out there and I'd rather give him a shot every time than resign Marshall to big bucks just so he can PI WR's all day.

People are going overboard with the Marshall sucks chat. He doesn't sack he is a capable starter and I am sad to see him go. However, his agent has him convinced that he is worth Nnamdi Asomugha and Darrelle Revis money and that's just not the case. He is a servicable starter that you give a contract of three years and anywhere from four to six million dollars a year, but he wants a contract for like five years for a total of thirty-five million and that's just not going to happen. People need to realize his contract makes him look like he sucks not his on the field performance. On the field he is one of the top five cornerback's in the divison, in my opinion.
