The Charlotte Observer confirms that free agent CB Richard Marshall is "expected" to play elsewhere in 2011.

The Panthers tendered Marshall in March, but there was never a good chance he'd return. The 26-year-old struggled along with the entire Carolina franchise last year, defending the run well but allowing over 75 percent of his intended targets to be completed, per Pro Football Focus. Marshall is still a salvageable talent. He'd make a lot of sense for a team that runs Cover 2.

That is terrible...

I've never liked Marshall who has noticed his sneaky PI moves over the years?

His smaller size means he absolutely mugs guys sometimes and many times he's gotten away with it. The last time I vividly remember was in INT in the giants game. Captain isn't nearly as bad even though he's just as small.

never been a fan of marshall's

he was serviceable as a nickleback because he was decent at coming up in run support

but he's never been a legit #2

plus, he's always given off that disgruntled player vibe... especially when it was announced that he was going to want top dollar on his next contract  right. let him go

Not that Godfrey is all pro safety, but Marshall made him look awful at times last year

There were games when tall receivers or tight ends would just destroy Marshall.....he was fine as a nickel but that's it. I would never pay top end money for a nickel

    • Honestly Bryce is a conundrum right now I'm not really sure what we should do with him but I am content on him being the quarterback number one going into next season. I think we should allow him the chance to play out the season to prove that he's the quarterback he can be going into next season.  I would not waste a high draft pick on a quarterback because I'm not sure anyone in this up and coming class is as good or has the ceiling that he had with that said I wouldn't throw away the future I would bring in someone like Justin Fields to have him looking over his shoulder and give us a plan b if everything doesn't go right on a one-year deal. I think the priority right now if tepper wants to make a big splash is find a way to get Travis Hunter that would be option 1AA because he helps with both sides of the field either way whatever you need defense or offense. Make that happen and then go mostly defense the rest of the way and we're cooking.
    • Move on from what?   Let me guess we gatekeeping on who we can and can't appreciate?   Next time I will just make a Kuechly appreciation thread lmao
