Remaking the defense

Chris Harris is not a cover 2 safety.

He is going to get burned even more.

We also need to be blitzing more, not less.

Especially with guys like Davis and Beason.

Harris wasn't the issue in the Cover Two in Chicago. Playing with a rookie safety was his issue. Danieal Manning blown coverages made Godfery's look harmless.

Everybody in Chicago knows that the biggest mistake Lovie and Company made was shipping him to Carolina. They gave up Harris for a washed up Archuletta and brainless Manning? All because a coach had a "man crush" on both of them. Arch, because of history and trying to do a friend a favor. And Manning, because he was the Lovie's "new project". A guy that still hasn't found a spot in the starting lineup.

The guy can play the Cover 2. He proved that his rookie and 2nd year in the league. He can make the plays. But it all starts up front in the Cover 2.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
