Remaking the defense

It looks like Kemo and Lewis will go into rotation, so we have one dt spot open, most likely a De spot open. For the Dt spot, They're going after Robertson, with the DE spot expect draft and expect the player to be undersized. (similar to Connor Barwin or Orakpo) Does anyone expect Digg's to make it in a full cover 2 system? I think he can, but look for us to draft a LB pretty early or give Connor plenty of chances to take the spot early on in camp.

Meek's will play to his player's strength's and Godfrey will have to take on more responsibilities with harris back there. Don't expect harris to get burned, if we go to a cover 2, he'll be fine. Godfrey will become a star under meeks though. Mainly because he has speed at the Safety position.

...and b/c unlike most Safeties, he can cover a WR, being that he played CB in college. His speed and coverage skills will be a plus in this defensive scheme.

I'm going to make my Bold prediction's of the off season here.

1. Williams will make the pro bowl next season and will lead the league in rushing yards and td's.

2. Godfrey will be stubed from the Pro bowl list but will have an amazing season. Stat line similar to this 80 tackles 8 ints 1 sack 2 ff 1 fr 8 pd

Chris Harris is not a cover 2 safety.

He is going to get burned even more.

We also need to be blitzing more, not less.

Especially with guys like Davis and Beason.

Exactly. But Fox is our coach and he has trouble seeing the painfully obvious. I love Harris but the cover 2 scheme doesn't play into what he does well and instead plays to his weakness. No way the cover 2 will work well w the DL we are projected to have.

So looking at our current roster who ideally fits into this new scheme and who doesn't.

Peppers, Johnson and Lewis seem to be. Kemo would be the odd man out IMO.

Beason and Davis are perfect fits but Diggs would be a question mark.

IMO Lucas would be perfect in a Tampa 2 as would be Marshall. Gamble I'm not sure is the best fit or not.

And I guess there is some opposing opinions on Harris but Godfrey seems ideal.

Am I correct or what is other's take?

Harris and Godfrey are fine.

Gamble will play well in any scheme. Marshall should be fine, Lucas is probably gone.

Johnson, brayton and lewis will be fine, Mainly because lewis and Brayton will be rotation guys. Johnson getting the starting nod, who ever replaces pep will be a speed guy in the draft most likely.

Were targeting Robertson as our new starting Dt in FA. As I said our new de will come in the draft.

The lbers are fine, only question mark is Diggs, might draft one to compete with him and connor for that spot.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
