Silas wants to play Walker and Augustin togethor

Recommended Posts

I highly doubt he was that much more aggressive in college. He drives quite a good bit now, but sometimes (like in college) he was driving to pass. I am not seeing this big transformation like you. He's always been a great shooter from the perimeter and if anything he shot more 3s in college.

DJ wasn't the finisher Kemba was.

Never said he was. DJ was probably 33% an outside shooter, 33% a drive the lane and dish guy, and 33% a drive the lane and finish guy.

Kemba is probably 67% of the time a drive the lane and finish guy. That will have to change in the pros. Without a decent outside shot, he won't be anything more than a rotational player.

DJ shot about 10% better than Kemba from outside in college (and that's being generous to Kemba). Unless he can develop a good jump shot, teams will dare him to drive the lane and just swat his jumpshots.

If you watch Kembas game and dont think he will be a good(not great) NBA player, you are kidding yourselves. Hes no Allen Iverson but hes in that mold.

Think Jason Terry - Walker doesnt shoot like him now but has the abilities if he works hard to do so.

He will have to improve significantly to be even in discussions with Jason Terry. Terry is a substantially better shooter and has more size than Kemba.

Is it unheard of to think that DJ could end up packaged in a trade at some point? DJ and Diaw for a wing scorer?

i think DJ is gone by the trade deadline

I smell a DJ and Diaw trade coming, maybe for a legit young center, or maybe for a scoring 3

the hell.

Wow! That's what I am saying. You are criticizing Kemba's height because DJ is small, that makes no sense. Kemba is a better finisher than DJ so he'll be able to finish better than DJ in all likelihood. Kemba's height wasn't a problem in college and I don't see why it will now. (Don't point to DJ because he was always a perimeter-oreiented player)

They are different players, so stop comparing Kemba to DJ and what he is doing in the NBA. Kemba is better with the ball in his hands and can create his shot better. DJ is a great perimeter shooter and spots up better.

My point is that DJ's lack of height isn't nearly as big of a deal as Kemba's lack of height since DJ stays out of the lane for the most part. Kemba lives in the lane. Time will tell if he will be able to do that in the pros.

Guess no one should go after Chris Paul or Nate Robinson either cuz they're not very tall.....

And no, I'm not comparing Kemba to them. But your thought that you can't be good if you're not a 6'7" PG is absurd.

I didn't fuging say that. Why are the fans in this forum on Kemba's nuts so much?

If we just wasted a lottery pick on Nate Robinson, shame on us.

When Kemba develops a shooting stroke or passing ability similar to CP3, then wake me up cause it probably isn't going to happen.

If you are going to be a midget point guard, you better as hell either be able to shoot the ball from outside the paint or distribute the ball. Kemba did neither in college. Can he do that in the pros? I don't know, but he has a long ways to go to get there.

The only issue I see with Kemba's height will come into play when we play them on the floor together. The lack of height for which ever one is at the SG postion WILL be an issue.

I could have sworn you just said DJ made this big transformation because of his height. When in reality, I pointed out that it wasn't that big of a change. He was not nearly the finisher as Kemba. Kemab's game is different than DJ and the reason he is in the lane more than DJ is because he can finish around the bigs. Kemba is a tough kid and I really don't see his game changing that much.

Yeah I think so too. I'm not an advocate of playing both of them but I do see Kemba as a better defender. There will be times when we go small and wouldn't be surprised if they both play together. The way I see it is why not experiment with this young team.

Yes, I said DJ's college game and early NBA summer league game changed because of his height. Fortunately for DJ, he had the outside jumper to be able to change his game.

Ok. Let me break it down this way.

Sophomore stats (note, I'm not using Kemba's junior stats this past season)

Chris Paul: 15.3 pts, 4.5 rebs, 6.6 assts

Kemba Walker: 14.6 pts, 4.3 rebs, 5.1 assts

Their numbers aren't way off. But when you consider that Kemba Walker may be the hardest worker in this draft, you have to think they will be comparable in the future. I mean, he doesn't expect anything and is a hard-nosed NYC guy. Give the guy a chance before you call him out as a waste.

OK, let me break it down this way:

Paul: 47% from the 3 pt line.

Kemba: 33% from the 3 pt line.

(note I think the 3pt line has been moved back some since CP3 left WFU, thereby introducing a skew to these numbers)

Last post on this debate.

Kemba lives more in the lane because he is better in the lane. DJ is on the perimeter more because he shoots better. But don't think Kemba is going to change is game because DJ doesn't drive. Kemba is a tough kid from the Bronx and won't shy away from contact. He is explosive for his size and athletic in the air. All I am saying is you can't point to Kemba (or DJ's) height and say he will change his game. He has always played this way. Sure adjustments will be made whenever anyone goes from HS to college or college to NBA but he will play to his strengths. He can use some work on his 3 point shot but that shouldn't affect the way he plays the game around the rim.
