Silas wants to play Walker and Augustin togethor

Recommended Posts

Yeah. Real point guards don't have ugly games like that. Kemba had 9 games last year in which he had two (2) or less assists. Apparently, Kemba was part of a lot of ugly games.

All I am saying is don't point to that game alone as to why he won't be a PG. Anyone who watched that game was bored to death because it was bad basketball.

Kemba is considered more of a scoring guard than a distributor. But when you look at collegiate stats, he really only averaged one less assist per game than DJ. Kemba really had to score because of his role. I personally like a distributor PG (like Nash and Rondo) but we are in need of scoring. Kemba can add that while still being an adequate passer. We'll see how he pans out.

I know we arent Dallas but they created a lot of matchup problems when they played Kidd and Terry together(also Barea with one of those two created problems) so for some stretches, I wouldnt mind it.

Augustin, Walker, Hendo/Maggette, Thomas, Biyombo. Despite what some think, that lineup would have no trouble scoring and teams would have to rely on the 3s against us.

Except Kidd and Terry are both probably way better defensive players than DJ and Kemba at this point.

I think opposing teams would love to see those two starting together from a offensive point of view.

But... if this is a transition year and we want a chance at a top pick in next years draft and to develop our young players lets do it!

this is what people need to understand, but won't

with the star power of kemba walker is going to be huge expectations from the uninformed "fans" in charlotte. people are going to want to see an immediate impact when we're building for the future.

charlotte is a terrible sports town :frown2:

i can't wait to watch this team rebuild around these draft picks and next years (likely high) draft picks

Well they are setting themselves up for quick disappointment, I mean look no further than John wall last year.

It can be argued he was a much better pro prospect coming out, with a lot more hype.... And the rest of our roster is no better than there's was.... Even with Wall they finished with the 4th worst record in the NBA. It takes time to develop young players... I mean their teams with really good young talent (Golden state, Sacramento) who are still having issues piling up wins in the NBA. It takes time

Those are Chris Paul type numbers.

:banghead:

Kemba played 41 games last year and only had 7 or more assists in 9 of those games despite always having the ball in his hands.

Guys, Kemba had zero (0) assists in the Championship game. He isn't a point guard.

Maybe you missed the part about him being considered one of the top true PGs in the country before last year...when he was told to stop passing and to start scoring.

But I guess people always have to complain about something...

I understand that. But scoring PGs aren't usually 6-0 tall. They are usually much taller and bigger. Kemba is going to get swatted around if he goes into the lane in the NBA and he doesn't have near the jumpshot that DJ does to shoot it from the outside.

What do you mean usually? What does it matter if it usually takes place? That doesn't it can't happen any other way. He has all the tools to succeed. His height hasn't been a problem up to this point and it shouldn't be a factor now.

DJ's height was never a factor in college but it was a factor in the NBA, so much so that he had to transform his game to more of a perimeter oriented game.

Look I know its sacrosanct to consider that MJ's selection of a hard-working, fan favorite out of college may not pan out in the NBA. Just realize that the Bobs just drafted a player that is a 2 guard in a PG's body. When he never turns into better than a 12 ppg, 3 apg player journeyman player, some of you may realize this.

DJ has always had a perimeter oriented game. He likes to shoot the 3. But don't confuse him not driving the lane (not saying he doesn't do it) because he is shying away from it. He probably shot more 3s/game during his time at Texas then his time with Charlotte.

Yes you are gonna see bigger, faster, stronger players in the NBA but don't act like DJ made this great transformation because of his height. His game has always been tailored by his height. His strength at Texas was his shooting.

He has always had a good perimeter game, but the kid went to the basket often in college.

I remember his first summer in the summer league, he got rejected like 8 times a game. Then he quit driving the lane.

I highly doubt he was that much more aggressive in college. He drives quite a good bit now, but sometimes (like in college) he was driving to pass. I am not seeing this big transformation like you. He's always been a great shooter from the perimeter and if anything he shot more 3s in college.

DJ wasn't the finisher Kemba was.
