Silas wants to play Walker and Augustin togethor

Recommended Posts

Bobcats coach Paul Silas said of rookie Kemba Walker and current starting PG

D.J. Augustin, "Now we have to find a way to play them both together."

"In practice they're going to be going at each other," Silas said. We're projecting D.J. Augustin as the starter, but as beat writer Rick Bonnell noted, competition for minutes has undermined Augustin's confidence in the past.

I personally think this will work because Augustin is more of a distributor in my opinion and Walker is more of a scorer.

I know we arent Dallas but they created a lot of matchup problems when they played Kidd and Terry together(also Barea with one of those two created problems) so for some stretches, I wouldnt mind it.

Augustin, Walker, Hendo/Maggette, Thomas, Biyombo. Despite what some think, that lineup would have no trouble scoring and teams would have to rely on the 3s against us.

While that may be true, Kemba might have the ball more.

Kemba is better with the ball in his hands while DJ can spot up.

Yeah if we have that small lineup, a match-up zone might work best.

Before I post, let me say this: I am a HUGE DJ Augustin fan and have been since he got here. With that being said, I think Kemba will be at least as good, if not better, as a facilitator than DJ. He averaged 5.1 assists per game his sophomore season...and that was without great scorers to help. Last year he was called on to score, and while leading the nation in that category, he still dished out 4.5 assists per game. I see him being a 20 ppg, 7.5 apg guy when he takes over PG.

Those are Chris Paul type numbers.

:banghead:

Kemba played 41 games last year and only had 7 or more assists in 9 of those games despite always having the ball in his hands.

Guys, Kemba had zero (0) assists in the Championship game. He isn't a point guard.

    • I find it more like now that I have been forced to watch Young so much it isn’t as much of a shock to my senses.   Desensitized they call it.   For real, it just looks normal almost now. Where the first game of 2023 I wasn’t sure what I was looking at it was so out of bounds for NFL type play. I literally couldn’t make sense of what I had seen vs Atlanta that first week.
    • Lynch in SF. Great is subjective but he has done pretty well there.
    • Sure, except Stroud has the ability to stretch the field with deep passes. He did that often last night with ease, but couldn’t connect on many due to being flustered by the defense. BY9 gets flustered and can’t throw screens, let alone even think about any deeper passes. Stroud would’ve changed the franchise and done more with the situation last year. My thought at least.    the hope is that last year showed tepper that he needed to step back from football decisions. There’s a positive in most situations and maybe we’ll see a new tepper in the near future.
