But then it goes back to who wants to play for an owner that is okay with losing and actually setting up his team to fail in order to prove a point?

Atlanta has shown they want to win now and maybe they will convince CJ is that missing piece, even get him for less money.

Wouldn't that be a dagger?

I feel like the huddle just lost a presence similar to yours. Strange.

Keep trying to convince me that losing really good players doesn't hurt really bad teams

most fans here won't admit it

look, I understand having hope for your team and poo, but you have to be out of your damn mind to not realize losing one of the best DE's in the league (for the second year in a row) is going to severely hurt the team.

CJ walks, we finish last in defense. I wonder if you can bet on things like defense/offense rankings, it would be easy money.

I also didn't say that. Don't throw around bad scenarios like they are my ideas. Charles Johnson, one player, might want to walk. That is all I have been talking about. It would be bad, but he is not a lock hall of famer in his prime. Teams can get over good free agents leaving.

While Cam's development is quite important, next year the defense is far more likely to be the determinant in us winning or losing games than Cam, because he's going to be rookie and nobody expects him to win many games without a defense. With our DL being a big weakness on that defense, losing the best player on the DL would leave us hurt pretty majorly on the DL. CJ is the strongest piece of a very weak area on our defense, and he was easily one of our best defensive players last year.

If your argument is that we won't be ruined for a decade by him leaving, well, you're right. But nobody is saying we will. The post you responded to was actually about this coming year anyway, so I assumed you were talking about short term stuff and not "long term."

Ryan blows

He's not mobile enough to be a winner in this league.

I would love to see Cam track down Vick and toss him around like a rag doll then cause a fumble then on the next play run for a TD!!!!!!

I bet that's how he gets his first TD.

Either that or he's so awesome they give him an honorary TD before the first game in a huge celebration with the commissioner, Obama, Osama, everyone there.

CJ is great and the best DL we have, but if he leaves we will sign free agents to try and offset the loss. We will not fall to the bottom of the league on defense solely because he leaves next season.
