6-10 or 7-9 and honestly the difference maker for me between those two is if we start off the season right against Arizona.

I'm talking about minimal mistake football trying to learn a new system

oh okay. another thing....from a panthers fan pov. do you think cj is a "one year wonder" ?

Thats hat i came back to ask... I know i have NFL rewind so ive found time to see a couple of his games... But they've honestly seen the guy for 3 years (playing time) .

My question for the guys that has seen him play... Is Johnson a guy that had a great season but he is really a 8 sack a year type guy or is he really a LDE that can give you 10+ sacks a year ?

CJ is not a one year wonder, but it's not as if 11.5 sacks is some absolutely astonishing number. He's a very good end and if we lose him it'll show, but I don't know about a 3 win difference.

I hope you're right. Maybe Hardy will step up in the same fashion Johnson did last year.

I just can't see that happening. Losing the only experience & competent defensive linemen would be devastating to our defense. A good secondary means jack poo when a quarterback has 10 seconds to find an open receiver.

What people do not realize is Rivera D is designed around blitz blitz blitz.... Don't yo worry about pass rush my fellow panther fans, this is not John Fox D anymore. We will have more sacks this season without CJ than we did with him last year. We got used to John Fox soft ass D when we almost never blitz and depend completely on our front four.

Don't get me wrong, I think 4-12 is realistic especially if CJ leaves, but IMO with Rivera we'll see a different defense than we have over the last few years... CJ himself will help make us a better team tho and losing him would be a blow, I just have trouble saying that he would be the reason for several wins. It's more that I think best case scenario, our defense is great because Rivera knows how to coach D and CJ is part of it; worst case scenario is Rivera can't get the defense going and CJ left so we're helpless in the trenches. There's a big difference in wins between those two situations, but imo, there's also a middle ground without CJ where we do OK because Rivera still figures how to use who he has.
