LOL stats can be manipulated and can be miss leading. Ryans stats are high because of the simple PA scheme that mularkey runs. Everytime Tunner goes down or is shut down by a defense Ryans stats go down because he cant carry a team. Your teams scheme is to use the TE and the RB so Ryan does not have to make complex reads or line changes. Its the same system they used with Roethlisberger year one and two and the same system we will use this year. Its a system that takes the load off the QB and only makes him have simple reads.

Hell it was the same system we used with Delhomme in 2003 and went to a SB with but that didnt make Delhomme a Franchise QB that year. He was just part of the system.

Let me start this off with.. Our biggest problem is being so depending on the run.. Thats our scheme.. But thats going to change this year

Vs the Ravens

Matt Ryan:64%, 316 yards, 3 TDs, 0 ints

Michael Turner: 17 rushing attempts for 39 yards

So lets not act like the guy havnt held his own when needed... This whole convo should be different after next year with us putting the ball in Ryan hands more.

The Patriots are running the same type quick read/anticipation throws scheme this year... Brady is the MVP of the league.

The hatred is blinding... You dont have to like Matt Ryan.. I dont expect you to... Give the guy is props tho

Then if thats not the case then I guess every starting QB is a franchise QB TBH. There is a difference in a game manager and a Franchise QB in my book.
it's not every starting QB.

it's the QBs that teams are heavily invested in and who is the center piece of their offense or at least has the offense built around them.

like it or not, jake was ours for years. teams that just have journeymen QBs coming in or who haven't been able to settle on a long term QB don't have franchise QBs.

a good few teams last year had guys starting who weren't franchise guys...panthers, cards, bills, 49ers, titans, broncos, redskins....none of these teams were all that committed to the QBs starting for them. then you look at teams like the cowboys and lions who were forced to start guys other than their franchise QBs because of injury. who knows what teams like the raiders or seahawks have in mind with the QB spot or if the eagles have long term thoughts in mind for vick. hard to call any of the starting QBs in those situation franchise QBs, imo.

if a team has/had a long term commitment to their QB, that QB is essentially the franchise QB. doesn't necessarily mean that the guy is worthy of it, just that he's got the commitment and faith of the team.

This is how JR's marvelous business plan is going to backfire and fug us. Who could have thought players actually cared about winning. If CJ and DWill leave and Smitty JR needs to just retire his senile ass. That day couldn't come soon enough.

If he wants to walk to another team for money or winning let him go. It's not the end of the world he is a GOOD player but not ELITE. Hell we let Julius Peppers walk who will eventually be a hall of famer. Either your riding with the Panthers or your not!

If the Panthers keep doing that, they'll become the new Cincinnati Bengals.

You can't keep letting your better players walk and get nothing in return and then defend it by effectively saying "If they don't wanna be here, screw em"

That's a recipe for disaster.

I agree.. I would not call Ryan elite... He has to continue to improve and take his game to the next level... I do think he's a franchise QB tho

I dont get why Ryan cant reach that level... He has to do it first but ive seen the guy improve on a part of his game each year... Working on his deep ball plays and winning the playoffs is his step..

Stat wise

Tom Brady 3rd year (starting) : 60.2% , 3,620 passing yards , 23 TD's, 12ints

Peyton Manning 3rd year: 62.5%, 4,413 passing yard, 33 TD's, 15ints

Drew Brees 3rd year (starting) : 65.5%, 3,159 passing yard, 27 TD's 7 ints

Matt Ryan 3rd year: 62.5%, 3,705 passing yards, 28 TD's, 9 ints

Not saying he is there... But its not out of reach if he continue to improve.

Eli biggest problem is he makes a lot of dumb mistakes

Chad Pennington- (starting): 68.9% 3,120 YD 22 TD 6 INT

Jay Cutler- (starting): 62.3 4526 YD 25 TD 18 INTS

David Carr- (Starting): 61.2% 3,531 YD 16 TD 14 INTS

Why not just call him the starting QB then... Its kinda like calling a Janitor a custodial engineer.

Why put David Carr on this list.. Dude TD to Int ratio is sad....

CHad Pennington was a damn good QB but all the injuries changed that

Jay Cutler is a franchise QB... In Denver the

Why roll your eyes... No point was proven

You can do put up endless other QB's stats... When Ryan got here we become a consistent playoff contender... We was very inconsistent before Ryan was here... I'm not giving him all the credit but he is a big part of it...

Everybody is go by winning.. We are 33-14 when Ryan is under the center... 3 winning seasons... We have finished 2nd, 2nd, and 1st in our division since 08

Ryan is not elite... He has part of his games that he has to improve on and win in the playoffs but its no denying what the guy has done so far for the falcons and that he has his team winning

But ill drop this... it can go on for days

Back to my boy Charles Johnson maybe coming home to the hometown team...

Ryan's stats are better than all those guys, only Cutler's 4500 yards is considerably better than Ryan's' 3700 and he played for a team that threw the ball over 75% of the time and he had twice as many interceptions as Ryan.

What were their teams record in their 3rd year? 13?

What was their win total from their first 3 years? 33?

I get it, you hate the Falcons. There's nothing wrong with objective football discussions though.

Nothing else came to atlanta in 2008. Nothing else changed.

It's all due to the poor mans Joe Flacco.

Well Atlanta had just finished the 2007 season 4-12. They had no QB,RB,TE, LB core,HC,OC,DC or GM other than that we were set.

Most sports writers had us winning 1 fricken game in 2008. Yes, I do realize Turner carried the team. Ryan still won ROtY, a lot of people seem to forget that.

BTW, Ryan beat the real Joe Flacco head to head.:p
