Atl is going to be a contender for a decade because they got a franchise QB.

I hope the Panthers did the same.

If you consider Ryan a Franchises QB than you have a very low expectations for a QB. Ryan is manipulated by his system and needs a strong run game and great play from his WRs to be good. He learned fast but has peaked as a QB. Good QB yes, One that can win a ball game all by himself NO.

Ryan is good but he's not great. Dude can read defenses but still messes up a lot. Look at Greenbay game so many silly mistakes... Yo spend money like crazy and ur time to win is now. Turner wheels will fall off after this year, Gonzalez is done after this year as well, Roddy White will be 31 next year...
A lot of truth in this post. Ryan will need all three of those guys to stay healthy to be successful. He will need a weak defense to play above there talent also.

We would all trade Cam for Matt Ryan right now.
I would not, Ryan has peaked as a QB and Newton has not even played yet. Now if your talking about Aaron Rogers or Ben Roethlisberger then sure.

Matt Ryan is a Franchise QB.. Not an Elite QB as of yet but he is a Franchise QB... The guy has won games by his self... Thats like saying Brady wasnt a franchise QB during his Championship years because he had a great running game.... The guy has made our inconsistent franchise a consistent running franchise.

Wow you really think Ryan has peaked...lol... A QB that has peaked is a complacent QB... You can always rise your game... improve anticipation throws... manipulating the defense... deep ball throwing (something Ryan has to improve on... His next step.. being more consistent in this area)

The guy throws for (in his 3rd year) 28 TDs (only 5 QB's threw for more TDs this year) , 9 ints and over 3,705 yards (only 8 QB's threw for more yards this year).. And he is not a franchise QB...lol.. ok... You are a panthers fan so i guess you are suppose to not like the guy.... I can still not like the panthers but appreciate the talent they have.

Yea, Ryan complition percentage is 62 in 2010 and 58 in 2009. Pretty pooty numbers for an Elite QB. And that's with hot Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez, and great running game. You do realize that Ryan has more weapons to work with than most QBs in NFL? Not to mention an outstanding offensive line to protect him.

Ryan is very clearly the franchise guy out in Atlanta. He's not reached the ranks of the elite yet (or really all that close to it), but he's a good quarterback that his team is actively building around. He's the future there, and they know it. I think if you are using franchise to mean elite then no, he's not elite, but he's shown he is more than capable of winning in this league - now he just needs to show consistency in that area in the post season.

Or not, because I'd rather see him keep losing. :P

until there is a reason to panic (ie, he decides to sign for a team willing to pay him more and put him in a better situation to win) there is no reason to hit the panic button, and even then....meh. we could use that money to sign another more proven DE pissed that some young guy like CJ got a better deal than he did and wanting to prove he was worth it.

In 09 he went thru the sophomore slump and was injuried... It wasnt his best year (but i still saw improvement on aspects of his game) ... But yea... 62.5 completion is good.... Big Ben 61.7 ... Vick 62.6 ... Jay Cutler 60.4...... 60 and above is good Ive heard QB coaches always say you want your QB to be above 60

Roddy White is a baller... No doubt.... I love Tony Gonzalez... He is the goat at his position but if anyone thinks he is the same Gonzalez that dominated... He is not... Antonio Gates and Chris Cooley (guys who looks at other TE's even said it on the NFL Network... Gonzalez is a crafty vet that find open spots on short routes but he is not that KC Gonzalez...

I think so me drastically over state Matt Ryan weapons... Even Hines Ward said Roddy was our only receiving threat... Thats why we went up and aggressively grabbed a Julio Jones

If he wants to walk to another team for money or winning let him go. It's not the end of the world he is a GOOD player but not ELITE. Hell we let Julius Peppers walk who will eventually be a hall of famer. Either your riding with the Panthers or your not!

LOL stats can be manipulated and can be miss leading. Ryans stats are high because of the simple PA scheme that mularkey runs. Everytime Tunner goes down or is shut down by a defense Ryans stats go down because he cant carry a team. Your teams scheme is to use the TE and the RB so Ryan does not have to make complex reads or line changes. Its the same system they used with Roethlisberger year one and two and the same system we will use this year. Its a system that takes the load off the QB and only makes him have simple reads.

Hell it was the same system we used with Delhomme in 2003 and went to a SB with but that didnt make Delhomme a Franchise QB that year. He was just part of the system.

franchise qb does not equal elite qb, some of you are letting the hate disorient you.

Then if thats not the case then I guess every starting QB is a franchise QB TBH. There is a difference in a game manager and a Franchise QB in my book.

I agree.. I would not call Ryan elite... He has to continue to improve and take his game to the next level... I do think he's a franchise QB tho

Agreed. Ryan is probably better at this stage of his career than Eli Manning was. He might not ever be a elite qb, but he could end up being very good for Atlanta if he stays healthy.

I dont get why Ryan cant reach that level... He has to do it first but ive seen the guy improve on a part of his game each year... Working on his deep ball plays and winning the playoffs is his step..

Stat wise

Tom Brady 3rd year (starting) : 60.2% , 3,620 passing yards , 23 TD's, 12ints

Peyton Manning 3rd year: 62.5%, 4,413 passing yard, 33 TD's, 15ints

Drew Brees 3rd year (starting) : 65.5%, 3,159 passing yard, 27 TD's 7 ints

Matt Ryan 3rd year: 62.5%, 3,705 passing yards, 28 TD's, 9 ints

Not saying he is there... But its not out of reach if he continue to improve.

Eli biggest problem is he makes a lot of dumb mistakes
