Bobcats Rd 1, #7 pick Bismack Biyombo

There's not too many true centers in the game today. Biyombo can work the pick and roll, and although he might not have a signature move down low, does the majority of his work in the post. His post game can be worked on.

Watch this video and tell me what you see, a PF or a C? It's really hard for me to see Bismack developing into a PF. (skip to :26 on)

First of all I really like the pick. However upon looking at that highlights video, I do see something a little troubling. Typically your best shot blockers in the NBA are able to use both hands almost equally as well, if you watch the highlights video, he has quite a few impressive blocks, but every single one of them is blocked with his left.(Watch dwight howard block highlights, he uses both hands equally) Seems like he can not use his right as well was preferred, maybe I am just being a little to paranoid but that is troubling to me.

My biggest question with this pick is will he play this season in the NBA???? I mean he has a buyout issues that's going to cost the him 1.5 million and the Cats can only throw 500k towards that.

Second question I have is this, if he does play here this season. What happens with TT and Diaw????

I like the player and believe he turns into a defensive monster and a 10-14 PPG kinda guy.

He looks just like Okafor in that video. All his points above the rim. Can't use the backboard. Blocks shots with his insane reach. Slow feet down low. Taking passes off the fingers. Brute strength with no touch.

It's obvious the guy can play defense, and we'll need that kind of player, but Chris Webber comparisons are flawed in my opinion. Check out the hands of stone at 3:36 of that video. It's a highlight package and there were MANY instances of him mishandling easy passes. Webber had a range to his game that this guy does not have. I remember Webber dropping threes at Michigan. Passing ridiculous out of the post.

The best we can hope for out of this kid is to be the PF version of Dikembe Mutombo. That would be a hell of a player, but Chris Webber he is not.

The only thing he has in common with Okafor is that both are defensive and rebounding specialists with limited offense. Other than that, they are really nothing alike. Bismack is much more athletic, plays meaner, and is far more aggressive than Okafor. IMO, he's what we hoped Okafor would be, but wasn't.
