You did good writing return to sender on the box and leaving it outside, but maybe you should start asking some questions about how the police found out about it. Seems suspicious. You could have been set up by someone looking for a mark to take the fall or the postal service messed up big time.

A package showed up at my house today. It wasn't addressed to me and was left on my porch after I didn't answer because I was giving my daughter a bath when it got here. I went out, saw it wasn't addressed to me and wrote return to sender on the invoice and on the sides of the box and left it by the door. Ten minutes later my house is surrounded by police.

Turns out there was three pounds of weed and 50 grams of hash in that box. I've been charged with 4 felonies....woohoo :(

Well the first appearance is just where they ask if you are going to have a court appointed attorney or if you are going to hire your own. I waived my right to a court appointed attorney, as I'm hiring my own.

First off, I think this totally bites the biggie and I wish you the best of luck.

A wrong address by mistake? Possibly considering the senders do drugs.

Also, you might be looking towards a neighbor being involved. AKA Dead drop.

Don't ask how I know this but sometimes, when folks ship drugs in that quantity, they will have it sent to a house down the street from their own. They wait and watch near the delivery date for the package to arrive. If cops are alerted, the PD will lie in wait not in front of the address but around the corner or such. The guilty party will survey the neighborhood and if the PD is there, let the package ride.

If not, they will accept the delivery as the intended recipient.

But, that is a large quantity and I would think the sender would rather pay somebody to drive the package to the correct recipient. Which brings us back to the set up/framed train of thought.

A buddy works for Fed Ex and says this kind of stuff happens all the time. Folks get caught because they use the drop box or do not wrap the goods well enough to mask the smell. He said if it is wrapped well, your best bet is to take it in to the counter and ship it normally. It gets put on the truck right away and off it goes.

Because my name wasn't on the package and the only way to actually arrest anyone for it was to show me receiving the package.

I would like to think there's a difference between having the package show up at your door and receiving the package. I hope you get with a good lawyer and you guys can bust this thing open cause this is some poo.
