Given the butt ugly women, terrible personal hygene, and god awful food in the UK.....I would not value a Brits opinion on anything (except beer).

Honestly I am more surprised someone in the UK actually knows where NC/SC is in the USA. I have lived here for over a year and 95% of all people I talk to have no idea whats between NY and Miami other than DC being somewhere in there.

I am there about once a month and lose weight every time I go....and I love to eat good food.

They have good Indian food there. But the UK cuisine is bland and nasty.

Pub food is one of the best foods around. Steak and ale pie, fish and chips, slow roasted lamb shank, beef stew, shepherd pie, etc... (Go to Big Bens in Charlotte and tell me that their pie isnt dank - because it is pretty close to authentic including the Guvna!)

If you go to any old pub (i call theme generi pubs) you do run the risk of getting a crappy bland version of any of those dishes, but the same can be said of going to a pooty generic bbq join in NC.

As for a traditional british restaurant (that is not a pub) there is a lot of amazing game bird dishes (quail, pheasant, duck) and lots of amazing local lamb, beef, rabbit etc.. From there the fish and seafood is all amazing as well.

Overall the stereotype of bland food caused a sever backlash in the UK and has produced some extremely tasty restaurants and dishes.

The indian food is amazing! The street food is also amazing (kabobs etc..) They also have some of the most amazing french restaurants on the planet. I find that their chinese and italian food isnt as good as ours though. Dont even get me started on good old fashioned southern food!

To be honest though it took me a couple months of living here to figure out how to sift the sh!t places from the quality ones. If someone is just in town for a week or 2, if they have not done a little research, they will wander in the millions of tourist trap crap hole restaurants the perpetuate the stereotype.

Hit me up on a PM and I will gladly give you 4-5 great pubs and several good restaurants. I had one of the best slow cooked pork I have ever had the other day at a local tapas joint. I couldn't believe it even cracked my top 10 but it blew me away!

The food has gotten better in London than it was years ago. Paris has great food.

I guess we may have a different view of good food....or my boys in the UK are clueless as to good establishments. Every pub meal I have had in London, Oxford, or Manchester has been bland and flavorless.

That may be my issue. I was referring to food in England....I have actually had very tastey meals in Ireland (Killarney and Dublin) and Scotland (Glasgow).
