The problem here is the response to the screw up, not the screw up itself. Most people don't care (much) if you screw something up as long as you are apologetic and work like crazy to rectify the situation.

It is when you fug up and are blase about it do we get really pissed.

Yay, great news!

I just got the call and the manager said he got it and it's bigger than what she initially wanted. She's ecstatic, and is hurrying getting dressed so we can go get it.

It's strange how Walmart's managers are incredibly nice and helpful but their other staff is incredibly ignorant and pain in the asses.
