Panther Fanbase OBX

How are they being disloyal bye selling a product to make money to live off of? I don't see how selling someone a terrible towel is being disloyal to the Panthers at all. It's not like they're burning D-Will jerseys or something.

Pretty tough to have home field advantage when 50% of our stadium is swinging terrible towels that OUR street vendors sold to them. My point is they would not have a living without the Panthers and don't forget that. One time I saw a Panthers security guard with a Pittsburgh logo on her face while working a Panthers game. I was disgusted. I would have fired her on the spot. It would be like working for Microsoft and showing up for work every day with a Mac.

One of the things on my to-do list for our camper in Holly Ridge is to get me a nice big Panthers flag and attach it to the deck...

I've been kinda waiting until the lockout is over first, though...

One of the first weekends we went down there, the campground manager was touring another couple new to the grounds while we were outside... The woman in the couple saw my Panthers license plate and the Panthers sticker on my rear windshield and asked me what I thought about Cam... It was confusing at first, because that is my son's name (well, Camden, but he'll be called Cam), but then realized she was talking about our new QB... It was right after the draft, but I told her that he wasn't the pick I wanted, but that I thought and hoped that he would do great for us... I could tell she knew all about the team just by her asking me about that...

She was a good looking woman, too... Lucky husband she has!

Well gang, I just returned from the Outer Banks, and though it was a terrible season, I found that we still have staunch support up and down the coast. Like all (who are fans), eveyone I spoke with is excited about Cam and Coach Ron. Of course there were the pockets of transplanted steeler-yankee-a$$holes. (I know it's a rhetorical question... but if Pitt. PA is so damn great, then why are they all coming here?). Anyway Black and Blue nation is alive and well on the OBX.

As a lifelong native of the OBX (Nags Head) I can assure you, this is Redskins country. Don't get me wrong, the Panthers are a lot of peoples #2 team. But there is no question that the northern OBX is a Redskins stronghold thanks to Virginia based FOX station showing nothing but Redskins games all season plus the fact that about 1/3 of the "local" population here are Virginia transplants.

Sprinkle in a fair number of Steelers and Cowboys fans from before we had the panthers, Finding true Panthers fans is a tough task. Don't believe me? Visit the local sports bars on game day and look at the jerseys. Try Barefoot Bernie's in Kitty Hawk, it's a Steelers stronghold.

I feel for you man. My fiances parents bought a house in Kitty Hawk just over a year ago, and we went down with them one weekend during the fall. I expected to be able to watch the game on Sunday because I had watched a preseason game there a few weeks before, but to my horror the Redskins game came on instead. I was left checking my phone for twitter updates to find out about the game.

Luckily, it was the day of the Bears game, so I was probably better off not watching it anyways.

Went into a bar in Nags Head once, the whole place was covered with Redskins and Virginia Tech stuff. Maybe one small UNC/ECU/Panther item.

It really feels like part of VA when im in that area.

^Good point about Nags Head, as most of our time was around Buxton and Ocracoke, and we met quite a few Panther fans and most of the bars had Carolina items on the walls. It did feel good to see that support so far from Charlotte.

I bought my Panthers neon sign from the beach store down from Goombay's back in '04. I used to do lots of work all over down there, Nags, Duck, Carrolton, Carolla and Carova. Wired up many a houses and met very few Panther fans. It's a funny feeling being a Panther fan from outside NC and being down there so much and not seeing too much support. I was more into the team than the town was...

It is easy to pull for a winner and the Panthers haven't been around forever. The reason you don't see Redskins fans all over the place is because they are terrible. If they ever start winning again, Skins fans will come out of the woodwork. This is a huge pet peeve of mine.

My other pet peeve are the Panther's street vendors. Every year when the Steelers or other popular teams come in town, our street vendors ***** themselves out and sell terrible towels, cheese heads, etc. I refuse to ever buy anything from them because they are so disloyal. They earn their living week in and week out off of Panthers fans then stab us in the back to make a quick extra buck. I am sure to remind them of this every time which I am sure they appreciate. ha ha.

The vendors are there to make money. Period. It would probably be a safe bet to say they make more money off the steelers, packers, etc fans on those game days than they do panthers fans. I don't blame them one bit for selling others teams stuff when it's a high profile team. I love my panthers, but if we were to ever become a street vendor at the games, I'd be selling steelers, packers, etc stuff, too. That's where the money is on those game days.

But Barefoot Bernie's is owned by a Pittsburgh transplant so that is to be expected, they are heavy on the Pirates and Penguins as well so you can't fault them too much I guess, at least the food is good. It does suck to have to pay for the Sunday ticket when living in NC though. The OBX should get their local coverage from the mainland not the Tidewater area, it's all those damn tourons that come down from Norfolk that drive it though.

yeah. i hated the redskins growing up cause everyone else loved them. and all the bandwagon fans loved the steelers of the 70's. i have no idea how i became a raiders fan but i did. maybe it was the superbowl against the eagles. of course i became a panthers fan immediately when we beat the jags in canton.

anyways, i'm relocating to greenville, n.c. and i believe they have a fox station from little washington or maybe rocky mount so hopefully they will show panthers games and i can finally be rid of skins games every week.

Maybe you are right, but it really irritates me. Tough to have good home field advantage when we are rolling out the red carpet for our opponents. I am glad we aren't the Eagles fans, but I think our fans are too nice. This wouldn't go over well in the majority of major sports cities. You don't see Terrible Towels in Arrowhead.
