Panther Fanbase OBX

Well gang, I just returned from the Outer Banks, and though it was a terrible season, I found that we still have staunch support up and down the coast. Like all (who are fans), eveyone I spoke with is excited about Cam and Coach Ron. Of course there were the pockets of transplanted steeler-yankee-a$$holes. (I know it's a rhetorical question... but if Pitt. PA is so damn great, then why are they all coming here?). Anyway Black and Blue nation is alive and well on the OBX.

My thoughts exactly, Pittsburgh is so great that everyone gets the hell outta there as soon as they can and most of them end up here... but our team, city, etc is "crap".

I don't expect anyone to give up the team they grew up with when they move here, but why can't you be a Steelers/Panthers fan if you live here?

It is easy to pull for a winner and the Panthers haven't been around forever. The reason you don't see Redskins fans all over the place is because they are terrible. If they ever start winning again, Skins fans will come out of the woodwork. This is a huge pet peeve of mine.

My other pet peeve are the Panther's street vendors. Every year when the Steelers or other popular teams come in town, our street vendors ***** themselves out and sell terrible towels, cheese heads, etc. I refuse to ever buy anything from them because they are so disloyal. They earn their living week in and week out off of Panthers fans then stab us in the back to make a quick extra buck. I am sure to remind them of this every time which I am sure they appreciate. ha ha.

I'm sure the Panthers will win a few Superbowls in the next decade, and the fan base will expand enormously. I became a fan when I saw the Panthers in the Superbowl as a kid. I bet one day if Ron can get us some rings we could be VERY popular; a great team with nice uni's! <--How could you not love em? Better than ugly Sleeler uni's. And do y'all think we could ever be like the Sleelers, Patriots, Cowboys, ect. after a decade or two of dominance?

I was up at Kitty Hawk a few weeks ago and I can confirm the OP's observations.

My Panther painted cornhole boards drew some friendly fellow fans into brief conversation, and overall people seem hopeful about the new beginnings here with Rivera/Newton.

Of course, the Shittsburgh contingent was also prevalent.

I had a place in Oak Island for awhile, and it was very staunch Panthers in Wilmington and in Myrtle Beach. Of course, living in Raleigh, there is nothing except ACC and NASCAR even outweighting the Hurricanes.

Love living in Raleigh, but, the city has Charlotte envy and I could not tell you why.

At least the local paper now covers the Panthers more as its Sports Dept is out of Charlotte for the most part, thank God...that's how bad the coverage is here, I thank God for the Charlotte Observer staff.

There seem to be a lot of Patriots fans in Raleigh, joy joy...and of course Steelers...have not seen very many Skins fans.

I lived in DC most of my life and I hated the Redskins. I hate them still.

    • I don't really like the phrase, "moral victory". I get what's meant by it, but does that mean that if you do the opposite (play poorly but win) it's an immoral victory? 🤔
    • I blame Evero because he is overrated. Vance Joseph created the defense in Denver that he took credit for. Wilks ran the ball down his throat and Darnold had a 103.8 rtg.  Last year we were decent in yards allowed, and horrible in everything else. Only reason? We kept giving up good field position.  He's had his choice of players to bring in since his scheme is so "complicated." Maybe he should stop trying to be so fancy like running Cover 4 on 3rd and 1 earlier and focus on fundamentals like tackling. These years of Eric Washington, Phil Snow, and Evero must have gotten you confused on what a real defense looked like. Go back and watch the McDermott and Wilks years- this dude is sofT.
    • I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and be more consistency in scoring points. I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo. They have scored 20 or more in 6 games and 30 or more in 2 games. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season . I'd say that's a market improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.
