Overrated/Underrated Players

130 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 FF, 1 INT, 5 PDef

hardly overrated.. definitely an impact player.

do you think the fact the D was on the field so often (and that teams were running away from Beason when he was at WLB) padded his stats?

His numbers were much better when Beason was at WLB. Then again, you still gotta make the plays.

it's possible.. there are still 10 guys on the field to take away his numbers if he wasn't making plays though.

just pointing out that Anderson stood out last year, and someone trying to divert that by calling people homers is a bit ridiculous.

Anderson is overrated amongst the huddle. Sure he is a marginal starter, but when was the last time you saw him make an impact play?

2 Jan 2011 about 9.5 minutes into the game. He forced a fumble, stopping an Atlanta drive at the Carolina 13 yardline. Unfortunately, it was followed by a three and out, even though we had a 1st and 5 due to a penalty.

How can anyone deny Anderson was big for us as a starter last season? He was one of the only good things happening on the field.

for some reason Captain really impressed me......he was very good in his starts. I remember he gave up a big one in the corner of the endzone but if he hadn't slipped....his midget butt imo would have still been in position to break it up. Kid has some game. Looking forward to year 3 (yr 3-4 always excite me in a players career).

I could pull statistics for linebackers from prior Ron Meeks' defenses to point out the other marginal starters that have racked up big numbers in his defense, but what's the point amongst the homerism in the Huddle.

tend to agree w/this. not sold that anderson is as good as the stats say, b/c as someone noted teams are going at him rather than beason. if he falls off the map i won't be shocked , but at the same time he did make the plays, which is all you can ask ultimately so that counts for something

I liked Captain too. If we use him along with Hogan and a focused Gamble(fingers crossed) we should be pretty good in the backfield. Not knocking Fox defense, but I think Rivera will bring more out of all of our guys.

Well, teams have to pick their poison. Are they going to go at Beason, TD or Anderson. Anderson has shown he's very well capable of handling his own. So regardless if his numbers stay the same or not we have a linebacker crew without weakness.

well that's where we disagree i suppose. i wouldn't go so far as to say the corps is w/o weakness b/c i'm skeptical as to whether anderson can sustain that level of play. i hope so b/c he is likely the one that teams will continue to go after,

8th in the league in tackles, pretty good in pass coverage.. you would really have to do more than throw out random statements.

I bet you that Ron Meeks has had a top 10 linebacker in tackles on everyone of his defenses (neglecting any issues associated with a starting linebacker getting injured).

If anything I expect him to be better. I'm not talking numbers wise because I expect TD and Beason to get some action too, but he's gonna be more experienced and our scheme will allow him to make more plays. He didn't do anything miraculous. He just made the play when he was in position. How can he fall off from that?

yeah, these light d-lines are often going to rely on the lbs to clean up the mess in the run game. esp when they get no penetration lol

b/c teams adjust and find ways to exploit players' weaknesses? nearly every player, save the highly touted ones, start of vanilla roles and yet not all of them improve or even hold
