I'm telling you...we will win at least 6-7 games this year.

I'm sold on Rivera and Newton and we will actually have a real OC this year. That alone will make a big difference. The schedule really don't mean that much to me, because there are always teams who fall off the year after a play off run, and there are always teams who had losing records the last season that end up being winners the next season. It happens every year.

We will win 7 games, at worst. Just the new coaching staff alone will inject more energy into this franchise, and so will Cam Newton. We will have the best home field advantage we have ever had during the regular season just because of Cam.

I don't think 7 wins is completely unrealistic but saying 7 wins at worst implies that 8 or 9 wins should be expected... just think about it... are we really on the verge of the playoffs after being the worst team in the leage and playing in arguably the toughest division in the NFL right now?

I'm thinking 7 or 8 wins would exceed expectations and might have Rivera in the discussion for coach of the year.

To play Devil's Advocate, you're saying we have a new coach who has never been a head coach before, a QB who many people consider a work in progress, a defense with it's biggest need still glaring along with other holes, a completely new offensive system using players drafted for the old system, a completely new defensive scheme using players drafted for the old scheme, health concerns for arguably our most important linemen, questions whether two of our best offensive weapons from years past will be on the team next year, etc etc etcYou have to take off the homer glasses and put the optimism that's running rampant aside for a minute and look at things from everyone other than Carolina fans' perspective. Things don't look bright.

Sure everything could gel perfectly and we could be one of those first year coach, first year QB success stories or we could struggle.

to be fair, plenty of coaches making their debut have faired VERY well in recent history.....and done so with rookie QBs starting.

all the schemes concerns could be applied to those other coaches as well (old players, new scheme)

....defensively, Rivera has run a damn good cover 2 before and those defenses were just as good if not better than what he did this past year in SD. Pretty sure he hasn't really addressed anything....other than the fact he is open to a lot.

Talent wise, Carolina has just as much if not more than what the other recent debut HCs had on there roster when they started rookies at QB.

It doesn't take years to build a football team (that is a myth). You get a good coach and a FO that want to win.....and in today's NFL it happen almost overnight.
