I thought that game was brilliant on his part... lol

I actually felt my brain gain a wrinkle that day.. he put a LBer in as DE and put a DE in at LBer.. stacked one side, and what did Fox do?

NOTHING.. LOL

Reasons like that are what excite me to see what happens this year with talents like norword, brown , and hardy on our roster.

yeah, drove me crazy every Sunday... I think every year we had success, this was true. '03, can we really say teams had much tape because they paid so much attention to us on our 7-9 season before? '05, who saw Smitty exploding out of the gates? By the last game, NFC championship, Seattle had Smitty figured out (along with Panthers having no run game and NO receivers)... '08, new season, we exploded with a running game that eventually caught fire. the year after, still good, set a record.. I guess QB play was far too inconsistent.

when you see the LBer taking on your LT and the DE taking on a RB or a TE.. I mean, come on.. lol

Let me know when you actually have any well thought out ideas. They may seem great to you when you think about them in your head, but once they get posted, they must lose something in the translation.

I'll be sure to do that. Until then, keep trying to impress everyone with your wikipedia knowledge about both football and psychology.

Apparently more people think I have well thought out posts when it comes to the topic you and I were discussing because I'm smashing you in pieces of pie 13-5 and I'm pretty sure I'm out swagging you as well. You, sir, need to plan out some of your posts when addressing me more thoroughly or you will continue to starve while I'm getting fat and happy.

We have a head coach who was a DC last year, has played and coached in several successful schemes and has a well built staff. It is hard to say what will happen but there is just as much to suggest he will be successful as there is to say he will struggle....

All that sounds dandy, but most of everything you are saying are assumptions.

The difference is that I don't frequent the lounge or other areas of the huddle to garner pi or swag but stay in the football forum. Unlike you, my self-worth apparently doesn't depend on whether I am popular or sucking up to other members of the forum. I also don't toot my horn as you do regularly. But I will in this post only to point out a few facts, as you call them. Most of last year I pointed out how sucky we would be, how getting rid of the vets was a big mistake and on and on. I became quite unpopular because I wasn't going with the party line. Forget that everything I said turned out to be true.

This year I told you and plenty others that for example Newton would be a great pickup and all the character issues were overblown. You on the other hand were a very loud critic. Sure it is too early to tell but so far I was right again and as usual you were wrong.

So honestly I don't care about swag or pi. The fact that you have a ton of swag doesn't make you any more intelligent or correct. In fact some of the folks with the least amount of swag seem to know alot more about football than folks like you who live on here and have lots of swag. The fact that the mods keep their pi at 200 seems a clear indication of how important they think it is.

Swag was designed in the beginning as I remember to send outside trolls to the smack forum and generally police negative and personal attacks. Unfortunately it hasn't really worked that way lately but it is the system in place and we got rid of sending folks to smaxk to increase message board traffic.

Instead of looking at that, lets see what general consensus is about football knowledge and insight. From most of the posts I see of yours the best you can say is that you are a legend in your own mind and a polarizing figure.

You win!!

How else would you judge things in the offseason when football isn't being played. Lets see how it plays out. I am confident that the defense will be very good this year and will carry the offense until they pick things up. Until games start we can't know what will happen unless you are Nostradamus. I will stick with my track record though.

Blah Blah Blah

You win!!

You ignored the fact that I said in this current discussion you and I were having, I've earned more pie.

Don't have pie envy, just get better.

I understand you saw a post of mine, hate me, and wanted to prove it wrong and how dumb I am. It backfired.

Deal with it and move on.

By all accounts he is ahead of where folks thought he would be.

Really? Who has actually seen him play? Everything sounds good, but again, this is an assumption.

We drafted 2 DTS in the third round and by all accounts will pick up a significant free agent at DT. Otherwise there are holes to fill and depth to create but surely no glaring holes. Even then so many players got to play last year than there should be good depth.

Until we pick someone up, it is an assumption.

Otah could be the best linemen if he will man up and stop playing so soft. Otherwise, he could easily be replaced or traded this year if he continues to not live up to his potential.

Anyone could easily be replaced, I mean we could replace our doorman with a watch dog, that doesnt mean he could sign for packages from UPS. Point is, will his replacement be very good?

Williams will be signed and Smith will either be here or will be replaced by a FA pick-up that will not be a huge drop-off. The offensive system will be much improved and picking up Shockey and using Rosario and Barnidge to their capacity means we will have more weapons not less.

I believe Smith will stay be it's not automatic that D-Will will be back, anything else is assumption. I am looking forward, like the last 2 years for development of our tight ends.

I always respect what you say, mostly pretty sensible and realistic, so I'm not arguing just to argue, in fact, I hope you are right. But unreasonable expectations usually lead to disappointment. All I kept saying last year, as hard as it was, watching our young team suffer but knowing they would grow from it and be tough in the future. Offseason, lockout or not, most everything you said is based on assumptions.

Really? Who has actually seen him play? Everything sounds good, but again, this is an assumption.

People who have seen him run plays from the playbook during workouts says he was impressive leading the team. Weinke who helped install the playbook to him said he had mastered 50% of it two weeks ago. Everyone said it would take him 2 years to learn the playbook and he would get no playing time. Now several players have said they expect him to start and so did Weinke. As I said, he is well ahead of where people thought he would be and he is. We will have to wait until the season starts to see how it translates to on the field. But as I said, from early returns he is way ahead of where folks thought he would be at this time.

If we pick no one up we will have addressed the concern. Both Hurney and Rivera said that DT is a point of emphasis and they will address it in the draft and free agency. If you look at the draft analyses you will easily see that at least one if not both of them are projected as possible starters. Even if that isn't the case, our DTs from last year were not as bad as some think. Football outsiders ranked our interior defense in the top 15. If was around the ends and over the tackles where we were porous to the run.

I believe Smith will stay be it's not automatic that D-Will will be back, anything else is assumption. I am looking forward, like the last 2 years for development of our tight ends.

You have it backwards. Williams wants to stay by all accounts and both Hurney and Rivera said on a PSL owners call that they would sign the core players and that Williams was considered part of the corp. Smith will be welcomed here but it is by no means assured that he wants to be here.

Until it happens you can't say the sun will set tonight and if you do, it is only an assumption. But going by experience and what you know has happened in the past and what the experts tell you, you can say the sun will set tonight and be assured it will happen. While nothing is as certain as that in football, I am basing my conclusions on what I have read from the players and experts about Newton, and what Hurney and Rivera have said about their plans in free agency. If you want to consider them assumptions which are informed or not that is your pleasure. If you follow my posts you know that last year I was very negative about the team and had very low expectations which were proven absolutely correct. This year I am more positive but am reserving judgement about elements like our record or how the offense will do until hopefully I get the chance to see them in training camp and the preseason. I have no idea where you think I am being unreasonable? Perhaps you could elaborate. I have said Newton won't be counted on to win games just manage the run game and make some plays when he can. Unreasonable?? I said that with McDermott running the Philly defense the past two years( ranked 12 both years) and Rivera helping him (ran the number 1 defense last year) that we will be top 10. Unreasonable???? I said the offense will struggle early but will rely on the running game and eventually the passing game when it gels. Unreasonable??? I said if the history in the NFC South holds true with rookie first round quarterbacks and new coaches who were defensive coordinators (Morris and Smith), we would win somewhere between 5 and 11 games ( most likely closer to five). Unreasonable???

You can call anything that is going to happen in the future an assumption if you wish, but I am positive the defense will be better this year. As for the offense, that remains to be seen. Assumptions can be based on wild speculation or the best information currently available. I think I am rooted on firm ground but that is for everyone to decide on their own.
